Your skin is the foundation of your beauty routine, and you can’t fake healthy skin. If it’s on your face is dried out, oily, features dark spots and/or is prone to blemishes, you’ve probably been searching for a way to repair it.

Sure, there are creams and serums that you can purchase from a department store or a salon, but the ones that actually provide any benefit usually have excessively high price tags.

Homemade Antioxidant Toner to Get Rid of Wrinkles, Sunburns, Scars and Firm The Facial Skin

Instead of spending a fortune at the cosmetics counter, try making your own skincare products at home. A great one to start you off is this inexpensive and easy to make antioxidant toner.

The Benefits of An Antioxidant Toner

Antioxidant toners provide a number of benefits for your skin. Firstly, it’s worth noting that just like antioxidants protect your organs and flush out free radicals, they do the same for your skin – and since your skin is the largest organ, it only makes sense that you want to keep it protected.

Specifically, antioxidants provide the following benefits for the skin:

  • They’re anti-inflammatory – If your skin is prone to puffiness and/ or blemishes, you’ll love the calming effect of antioxidants. There are several antioxidants, such as alpha acid, that can reduce inflammation in the skin, improve the circulation of blood and oxygen and that can boost the metabolism of the cells. As a result, when you use antioxidants on your skin, you’ll notice that there are fewer blemishes, your skin tone will become even and you may even experience a decrease in wrinkles.
  • They firm and tone the skin – As you age, your skin loses elasticity. As a result, it can look droopy and wrinkly. Antioxidants have the ability to make your skin appear years younger because they can actually have a tightening effect. You’ll notice that your skin will appear years younger once you start using an antioxidant toner.
  • Treatment of scars – Do you have a scar on your face that makes you feel super self conscious? If so, then you’re going to want to give an antioxidant toner a try. Antioxidants can help to enhance the blood flow to scar tissues. As a result, they blend into new skin that your body develops, thus making the scars less visible.
  • Reduce damage from the sun – The powerful UV rays of the sun can actually damage your skin’s cells, causing them to become discolored, blotchy, leathery and can increase the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Antioxidants can reverse the damage of UV rays, restoring the youthful look of your skin.

DIY Antioxidant Toner

Making your own antioxidant toner at home is actually quite simple. To make it, you’ll need the following ingredients:
  • Purified water
  • Organic apple cider vinegar
  • Organic green tea bags
  • (Blue chamomile essential oil is an optional ingredient to add)

To make the toner, all you have to do is place the tea bags in a cup of boiled purified water for at least ½ hour. Once steeped, place one teaspoon of organic apple cider vinegar to the water. If you’d like, you can add in a few drops of the chamomile essential oil.

Once your mixture is ready, dab it on your face with organic cotton balls. You’ll instantly feel refreshed.

Here Is What 6 Hours Of Sleep Can Do To Your Face: A Huge Difference In The Appearance After 6 And 8 Hours Of Sleep

According to the latest experiment of London scientists, the lack of sleep affects the skins appearance and the mental state of the person.

Sarah Chalmers has decided to participate in an experiment at the University of London, which explores the dream and the sleep. This experiment is particularly related to the lack of sleep and its impact on skin appearance.

Before the experiment, Sarah has undergone testing and scanning of the skin on her face.

The 46-year-old woman considers herself to look much older than she actually is. As she says, she has expressed pores, dark circles under her eyes and skin with no shine. Above all, she recently noted the numerous stains that have appeared on her chin.

In addition, Sarah notes that recently she has been very upset and nervous, a little bit clumsy and forgetful, and all that for one reason – for days she has been sleeping less than six hours, which is two hours less than the recommended eight hours of sleep.

Insufficient sleep is attributed to many business and home commitments, for example the children, as is the case with most women nowadays.

Although the eight hours of sleep is the recommended norm, more and more people around the world have five to six hours of sleep a maximum.

“I did not realize how the lack of sleep can affect my concentration, attention and memory. Now I know that the lack of sleep can also affect the appearance of my skin and my immune system” says Sarah.

Sarah believes that this experiment that lasted for several days, in which she participated was very instructive for her.

Here is Sarah after 8 hours of sleeping:

Sarah after 6 hours of sleeping..

“I found myself getting irritable with my children at the drop of a hat, and I felt permanently hungry.”

Before getting back to her usual, healthy eight hours sleep per night, Chalmers went back to get another facial scan.

It determined redness, texture and larger pore size.

One of the most interesting facts to come out of this experiment is described by Dr Guy Meadows, who led Chalmers’ study.

“You can’t repair a sleep debt by having loads more sleep the next day. Your daytime activities are like a house party, and after every one of those you need a clean-up operation to remove the toxins amassed during the day.”

“When our sleep is restricted we are pushed into the most primitive part of our brain, the amygdala, where base emotions lie. This is why we often experience increased anger, sadness and irritation.”

A lack of sleep also has an impact on our immune system, leaving us more vulnerable to infection. ‘And our looks are compromised by a drop in collagen production brought on by a surge in cortisol which the body releases when it is stressed — and sleep deprivation is a form of stress,’ says Dr Meadows.

So, from now on, I’m going to make sure I get the full eight hours — or I fear I will suffer the consequences.

Why Is It Good To Stand On Your Head?

“The moment he sat up and began to think, the Homo sapiens was definitely separated from the animal species, but from there on, the health problems began.”

An interesting and witty remark by Dr. Deitmar Dorbandt, a German Yogi. His thesis is illustrated by a series of examples, starting from problems with venous circulation. Venous circulation functions well for people who are moving enough, but for intellectuals, who sit too much, the muscle contraction are insufficient to ensure normal speed of blood flow through the veins, which causes accumulation of venous blood in the legs and poor circulation in the abdomen.

But the problems for these “sitting intellectual” doesn’t end there. Due to the lack of movement the circulation in the arteries is hampered.

The “lowering” of certain organs can be a source of severe functional disorders.Yoga followers claim that doing regular exercises, like standing on your head can solve this problem without surgery. Because most doctors still reject this possibility, we’ll have to wait for medicine to give a definitive answer.

Japanese judoka Hisashi Tsuzawa, a world champion, used this technique before a fight to sink increase concentration. When a doctor told him he could lose blood from the muscles of the extremities this way, Tsuzawa said: “Maybe, but the fight is won with our brain.”

Yogi Doctors claim that this way you can improve brain function, and remove numerous vascular spasms that cause headaches. So, it’s no wonder this exercise is called the “queen of all exercises”.

Study: Smelling Farts May Be Good For Your Health

The next time someone at your office lets out a "silent but deadly" emission, maybe you should thank them. A new study at the University of Exeter in England suggests that exposure to hydrogen sulfide — a.k.a. what your body produces as bacteria breaks down food, causing gas — could prevent mitochondria damage. Yep, the implication is what you're thinking: People are taking the research to mean that smelling farts could prevent disease and even cancer.

The study, published in the Medicinal Chemistry Communications journal, found that hydrogen sulfide gas in rotten eggs and flatulence could be a key factor in treating diseases.

"Although hydrogen sulfide gas is well known as a pungent, foul-smelling gas in rotten eggs and flatulence, it is naturally produced in the body and could in fact be a healthcare hero with significant implications for future therapies for a variety of diseases," Dr. Mark Wood, a professor at the University of Exeter, said in a statement.

While hydrogen sulfide gas is harmful in large doses, the study suggests that "a whiff here and there has the power to reduce risks of cancer, strokes, heart attacks, arthritis, and dementia by preserving mitochondria,"Time reports.

Dr. Matt Whiteman, a University of Exeter professor who worked on the study, said in a statement that researchers are even replicating the natural gas in a new compound, AP39, to reap its health benefits. The scientists are delivering "very small amounts" of AP39 directly into mitochondrial cells to repair damage, which "could hold the key to future therapies," the university's statement reveals.

You'll have to decide for yourself, though, whether exposure to hydrogen sulfide in flatulence is worth the potential health benefits.

Improve Hair Growth And Hygiene With This With This Peppermint Oil

Hair loss can be an embarrassing event for anyone to go through. Not only does it affect your physical appearance, it also wreaks havoc on your mental state. It’s no surprise that hair loss usually equals loss of confidence. However, what follow below will surprise you with its ability to grow your hair, and it’s added benefit of cleaning your hair improving your overall confidence.

What Is Hair Loss?

Hair loss in men is a very common thing, but, hair loss in women is also growing as an issue. Hair loss does not only affect an individual’s confidence; it can also affect their self-perception drastically. Now if you suffer from hair loss a question you might ask yourself is: is there something wrong with me?

The answer to that question is simply no. Although there is a societal construct that demands one to have a full head of hair, speaking from a biological point of view hair loss is a natural occurrence in the (male or female) body.

What Cause Hair Loss?

When it comes to thinning hair lines and full blown baldness men and women share the same burden. Although the popular media has made it seem like baldness is strictly a male issue, it can also affect woman just significantly. When it comes to hair loss there are a few different factors that play a role thinning your hair line.

The first and most prevalent factor when it comes to hair loss is age. Like most parts of the human body, the older one gets the more susceptible to change one’s hair and scalp become. It might surprise you to learn that hair loss can actually begin in one’s teens or early 20s, and by the age of 50 an overwhelming majority of all women have thinning hair.

The second factor which plays a large role in hair loss is hormones. Hormones help control almost all aspects of growth in the human body.

After the menopause period, thinning of the hair becomes more pronounced. In men testosterone is the culprit when it comes to hair loss. With women, hair begins to thin out because the hair follicles are responding in exactly the same way as men to the testosterone in the blood.

Like men, women also have testosterone although at much lower levels. Testosterone is a necessary hormone in the body. Balding does not mean that a woman has more testosterone in her blood then she originally had; it simply means that the hair follicles on her scalp are oversensitive.

When hair follicles become over saturated with testosterone, they become irritated. This irritation more than anything is what leads to baldness. Other causes for hair loss include iron deficiency, severe mental stress, severe physical illness of any kind, (particularly a high fever or severe infection) and childbirth.

The Research.

Peppermint is a plant native to Europe with health benefits many are only realizing today. A recent study conducted by Korean researchers has found that peppermints health benefits may extend into the realm of aesthetics and beauty.

The study consisted of a five week observation in which four sets of lab mice were shaven bald. After being shaven each set of mice was assigned a topical cream of specific plant extracts to apply to their bare skin. After results where recorded researchers began to examine which topical cream yielded the most growth steadily over a five week period.

The Findings.

Out of the five test group’s, peppermint oil revealed to have the most significant hair growth when compared to all other topical creams. In only a matter of four weeks, mice who were given peppermint oil as a hair growth extract were able to grow back up to 80% of their total body hair. This is especially surprising especially when one considers that all other creams were unable to yield the same results.

Although, these results help to build a solid case for peppermint as the answer to hair growth issues, more research still needs to be conducted and examined. As it stands scientist are still unsure which specific aspect of peppermint oil helps to improve hair growth.

Peppermint oil can also prove to be an excellent cleaning agent for hair. Alongside its ability to aid in hair growth peppermint oil contains properties that make it a natural antibacterial and antifungal substance. Additionally, peppermint oil has a scent that is hard not to love. Applying to the scalp could help hair smell look and feel much cleaner.

Using peppermint oil will not reverse the aging process, but it just might be able to help improve your hair growth and help you keep your hair cleaner than ever.

Soda Shortens Your Lifespan By 5 Years

Did you know drinking canned soda can shorten your lifespan by 5 years? Read below to find out what your doing wrong!

Drinking sugar-sweetened soda and other sugary drinks on a regular basis has been linked with weight gain, diabetes and heart attacks among other health problems. Can soda can actually shorten your life though. According to a recent study by the University of California, San Francisco found that regularly drinking a can of soda can shorten your telomeres. These are the protein caps on the end of chromosomes that protect your DNA from damage.

“Teleomere length naturally shortens with your biological age,” says Cindy Leung, Sc.D., a postdoctoral research at the University, who led the study. “When telomeres get too short, the cell can malfunction and die.” Leung and her team found that soda drinking appears to hasten this natural shortening, which has also been linked with the development of heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

5000 people participated in the study. They took blood samples and despite being free from diabetes and heart disease, the person who drank the most had shorter telomeres than those who limit consumption.

More research has been done on soda at Harvard School of Public Health. The experts found that
Drinking one or two cans a day increases the risk of type 2 diabetes by 26%.

Men who had a can a day for 20 years had 20% higher heart attack risk than those who didn’t drink them.
A can a day for two decades boosted the risk of gout by 75% in women. A similar risk was found in men as well.
Decreasing sugary drink consumption could reduce the obesity epidemic.

Many people choose to drink soda even though they know they aren’t healthy. Tons of people choose soda over water. Even though the research was done in a well-respected environment, it remains a observational type of study. This study should be considered serious though. This bad habit can cause many bad things to happen to you, so why do we keep ingesting it? Maybe it is time to switch to something new, just to be on the safe side.

The Best Exercises To Firm And Lift Your Breasts

The Best Exercises To Firm And Lift Your Breasts

The breasts are predominately a fatty tissue located directly over top of the pectoral muscles. One of the best ways to lift your breasts is to strengthen the muscles underneath your breasts as they help to support them. When these muscles are weak, they allow the breast tissue to sag. But if you develop these muscles, your breasts will get a nice lift.

The following exercises won’t turn A cups into Bs or beyond. But they can help you to build up your upper body muscles and improve the appearance of your breasts without having a surgery.

1. Chest Squeeze with a Medicine Ball

The chest squeeze is a great way to warm up the chest before other exercises, or you can do it at the end of your chest work when your muscles are tired. This exercise works the chest and shoulder muscles.
  1. Sit up straight on a chair and make sure that your back is straight and your stomach is tensed.
  2. Hold a medicine ball at chest level and squeeze the ball to contract the chest.
  3. While squeezing the ball, slowly straighten the arms, taking the ball straight out in front of you until the arms are straight.
  4. Keep a steady pressure on the ball throughout the movement.
  5. Bring the ball back towards the chest and repeat for 1-3 sets of 10 reps.

2. Push-up

Push up is a great exercise for firming your chest, and as an added bonus it will also strengthen your back and core muscles (for more exercises for your core see my post about the best exercises for getting a flat tummy). You can do it at home without any special equipment. For an easier variation you can place your knees on the ground.

Lie on your stomach and place hands on the ground next to your arm pits and push yourself up so your elbows are slightly bent. Make sure you keep your stomach tensed and slowly lower your chest to the ground then push yourself back up again. Repeat as many times as you can.

3. The T-Plank

The T plank (also known as the front plank) not only tightens your belly, it strengthens your chest, arms, back, glutes and legs too. It builds strength in these areas with body weight rather than equipment (you can add weights for extra challenge), making it a great, no-excuses-tolerated exercise.
  1. 1. Hold your body up in a pushup position, with your legs wider than hip width for more stability.
  2. 2. Lift your right arm, holding the weight up, and open your body all the way to the right making a “T” shape with your body. Remain in that position for 10 seconds.
  3. 3. Return to your starting position and do the same on left side. That’s one rep. Do 5-10 reps.
  4. If you find this exercise too difficult to hold for more than a second or two, put your knee or knees on the ground. As you gain strength, holding the pose for longer periods of time should become much easier.
How to Make It Harder
  • Lift top leg 6 inches off bottom leg, so top leg is hovering in the air.
  • Use five to 10-pound weights as handles.

4. Bench Press

Bench pressing is a great exercise that can help your breasts appear to be slightly lifted due to the strengthening of the pectoral muscles that are located behind the fatty tissue of the breasts and help to support the breast tissue. When these muscles are weak they allow to breast tissue to sag. You can replace the bench with a Swiss ball.

1. Lie face up on a bench, Swiss ball or on the floor with your arms straight, a dumbbell in each hand.
2. Lower the dumbbells until they’re close to the sides of your chest.
3. Press them back up to the starting position. That’s one rep. Do 10 reps.

5. Dumbbell fly

Dumbbell flys are one of the best exercises for firming your chest.

1. Lie face-up on a flat bench or on the floor with your knees bent.
2. Hold a pair of dumbbells above your shoulders with your elbows slightly bent. Keeping the slight bend in your elbows, lower the weights until your elbows are in line with your chest.
3. Keep the same bend in your elbows as you press the weights back up. Perform 10 reps.

6. Applying Pressure

One of the simplest exercises to plump up your breasts is by applying pressure with your chest muscles and targeting your pectoral muscles which help to support your breasts.

1. In order to do this exercise, face towards the wall while standing tall against it.
2. Now lean on the wall with your hands and put as much pressure with your hands as you can as if trying to move the wall.
3. Keep on applying pressure by pushing it for 10 seconds at a stretch.
4. Then release, relax, shake your hands and get on with it again. Repeat this 10 times.

7. Standing Chest Fly

While this exercise mainly works on your shoulders, there are some benefits for your chest muscles as well.

1. Stand or sit upright, with tummy tight and bend your elbows while holding the dumbbells.
2. Press your palms together. Hold for two seconds and release. Repeat 10-15 times.

Selfies Expose, Identify Psychopaths, Researchers

We all know someone who bombards our newsfeeds with unending pictures of themselves.

"Here's me at the gym."

"Here's me standing in front of the restroom mirror."

"Here's me without my top."

"Here's me after a haircut."

"Here's me with the same haircut but at a different angle."

While many of us find their rampant posts to be irritating and inconsiderate, most endure and tolerate their virtual babble. However, new research suggests that we should beware of our selfie-addicted friends.

Scientists have recently linked posting selfies to narcissism and psychopathy.

The latest findings showed that men who post more pictures of themselves than others were significantly more likely to score higher on tests of narcissism and psychopathy. What's more, selfie edits suggest higher narcissism and vanity in men.

"It's not surprising that men who post a lot of selfies and spend more time editing them are more narcissistic, but this is the first time it has actually been confirmed in a study," lead researcher Jesse Fox, an assistant professor of communication at The Ohio State University, said in a news release.

"The more interesting finding is that they also score higher on this other antisocial personality trait, psychopathy, and are more prone to self-objectification," Fox added.

The latest study involved 800 men aged 18 to 40. Participants were asked to fill out questionnaires about their social media activity and tendency to engage in antisocial or self-objectification behaviors. Study results indicated that posting more selfies was to narcissism and psychopathy. However, the study showed no links between photo edits and psychopathy.

"That makes sense because psychopathy is characterized by impulsivity. They are going to snap the photos and put them online right away. They want to see themselves. They don't want to spend time editing," Fox explained.

Researchers noted that the findings don't mean that all selfie addicts are narcissists or psychopaths. While participants in the study all scored within the normal range of behavior, men who post more selfies were significantly more likely to exhibit antisocial traits.

The latest findings were published online in the journal Personality and Individual Differences.

The Truth About The Milk Myth: Why Milk Is Bad For Your Bones

The Truth About The Milk Myth: Why Milk Is Bad For Your Bones

Throughout history, there have been unfounded health beliefs. Parents in medieval England would tie the feet of a rabbit around their children's necks to ward off illness, and doctors once believed saliva had healing properties and would spit on their patient's wounds. Today, the medical myth involves milk. Cows milk to be precise.

The milk myth has spread to all corners of the world and it is inaccurately believed to support bone health and improve overall health because it contains high levels of protein and calcium. However, there have been numerous scientific studies which show the detrimental health effects directly correlated with drinking milk. Most surprising of all is how we barely absorb the calcium in cow's milk- in fact, it increases the amount of calcium lost from the bones!

Want to know how that happens? Milk contains animal proteins which acidifies the body's pH, thereby causing a biological correction to take place. In order to neutralize the acidifying effect of milk, our bodies use calcium. And that calcium comes from our bones. The very act of drinking milk can actually cause a calcium deficiency. Maybe that's why countries with the highest consumption of dairy products have the highest bone fracture rate in their population. Amy Lanou Ph.D. is the nutrition director for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine in Washington, D.C., and she states, “The countries with the highest rates of osteoporosis are the ones where people drink the most milk and have the most calcium in their diets. The connection between calcium consumption and bone health is actually very weak, and the connection between dairy consumption and bone health is almost nonexistent.”

Even though cow's milk contains three times more protein than human milk, it creates metabolic disturbances that have adverse effects on our bones. The composition of mother's milk to cow's milk is very different.

There have been numerous scientific studies which go against the conventional "milk is good for you" theory. Actually, there have been more studies showing that dairy products fail to protect bone fractures, than ones that prove otherwise. Even drinking milk from early childhood doesn't protect against future risks of fracture, it increases it. JAMA Pediatrics did a study over the course of 22 years with 96,000 participants. Their study found,

"Greater milk consumption during childhood and adolescence contributes to peak bone mass and is therefore expected to help avoid osteoporosis and bone fractures in later life. However, milk consumption during teenage years was not associated with a lower risk of hip fracture in older adults in our cohorts. Instead, a significant 9% increase in risk was observed in men for each additional glass of milk consumed per day during teenage years."
And Harvard Nurses' Health Study did 12 year study with 77,761 female participants aged 34 - 59. They found that people who consume more calcium from dairy products average more broken bones than those who rarely drink milk. The author of that study wrote, "These data do not support the hypothesis that higher consumption of milk or other food sources of calcium by adult women protects against hip or forearm fractures.” (Source: Feskanich D, Willett WC, Stampfer MJ, Colditz GA. Milk, dietary calcium, and bone fractures in women: a 12-year prospective study. American Journal of Public Health. 1997).

There is more than just bone health to be concerned about regarding cow's milk. Today, most cows are given antibiotics and are injected with a genetically engineered type of bovine growth hormone (rBGH). These synthetic hormones are used to artificially increase the production of milk. People who drink rBGH have increased blood levels of the insulin growth factor 1 (IGF-1), and elevated levels of IGF-1 are connected to several cancers. Chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition, Dr. Samuel Epstein, said, “Drinking rBGH milk would thus be expected to significantly increase IGF-1 blood levels and consequently to increase risks of developing breast cancer and promoting its invasiveness.”

While there are alternatives to milk with rBGH, like organic and antibiotic-free, it is probably best to avoid drinking cow's milk altogether. Healthier options include almond, hazelnut, rice, soy milk, and my favourite, cashew milk.

Fashion Trend Might Cause Nerve Damage:Tight Skinny Jeans Health Risk

Skinny jeans may be good to wear and look great for some for fashion sake, but these fashion items can cause a person a runway to the hospital. We know that fashion often takes priority over comfort, because who needs to be able to walk properly when you can look this good?

Fashion Trend Might Cause Nerve Damage:Tight Skinny Jeans Health Risk

However, doctors warned that wearing skinny jeans could cause nerve damage called Meralgia Paresthetica, a chronic neurological disorder where there is a compression of the nerve that supplies sensation to the skin surface of your thigh.

Dr Karen Boyle, a urologic surgeon from Washington DC said that “This disorder occurs when one of the nerves on the outer part of the thigh compresses and pressure on in causes symptoms of tingling and numbness and pain.”

Other symptoms include occasional aching in the groin area or pain spreading across the buttocks, a burning sensation in the thighs as well as hypersensitivity to heat.

Dr. Boyle added that the fashion combination of skinny jeans and high heels increases the chances of developing meralgia paresthetica.

“Because the pelvis tilts it can further accentuate the pressure that’s placed on those nerves,” she explained. If not corrected the condition can become serious and potentially lead to permanent damage.

In most cases, meralgia paresthetica can be relieved with conservative measures, such as wearing looser clothing. However, in severe cases, treatment may include medications to relieve discomfort and surgery may be needed to decompress the nerve or as a last resort to remove it. The latter treatment results in permanent numbness in the area.

As an old familiar song once told, “A picture paints a thousand words” and smile is the prettiest thing that one can wear. But what if you cannot flash your megawatt smile because you’re shy that they will notice that you have teeth discoloration? Uncomfortable and embarrassing right?

Teeth- your teeth are one of the first things people notice. They are a sign of health as well as confidence. When making a first impression, having teeth that look like you don’t brush them can send a signal that you don’t really care about yourself. Americans spend over a billion dollars a year on over-the-counter tooth whitening products, often without being aware of their risks. Because, admit it, who doesn’t want to have a beautiful smile with white sparkling teeth?

But the good news is, you do not need to buy over -the -counter teeth whiteners just to have sparkling white teeth. In fact, when you go to your pantry and you’ll be surprised that you already have the natural teeth whiteners- You just don’t know and realize what their uses are.

So here are the ways to whiten your teeth naturally:

1.Baking soda and lemon

This works great as a natural teeth whitener. Many people confirm to the fact that it does make their teeth look whiter.

You will need the following:

-Several teaspoons of baking soda
-Enough lemon juice or water to form a paste
-A toothbrush

Directions:
  1. Mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste.
  2. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel.
  3. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. I
  4. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes.
Lemon has ananti-bacterial and antioxidant property and works great as a total mouth and gum cleaner and keeps the mouth free of germs.

Knowing These 3 Secrets of Teeth Whitening Will Make Your Smile and Your Teeth Look Amazing

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

It makes sense that apple cider vinegar would eventually remove stubborn stains on the teeth, especially from coffee and nicotine. It has been proven that it does work but you have to be consistent and it takes a least a month of continuous usage to see results. Some say that using ACV looks like you just got your teeth professionally cleansed. Be careful, as with all acids, it can remove the enamel on your teeth as well. After brushing with ACV, you will need to brush again with regular toothpaste, preferably a non-fluoride paste, or rinse your mouth out really well.

3.Strawberries, Salt, and Baking Soda Scrub
It has been said that Catherine Zeta Jones whitens her teeth with strawberries. Who would have thought?

Strawberries are high in Vitamin C, which can help break-down plaque that is causing your teeth to look yellow. It also has an enzyme called malic acid, which may help to remove surface stains.

You will need the following:

-1-3 large strawberries
-A pinch of seat salt
-1/2 teaspoon of baking soda (optional)

Directions
  1. Mash the berries into a pulp, and add a pinch of sea salt and ½ teaspoon of baking soda, if you’re using it.
  2. Wipe any extra saliva off your teeth with a paper towel, and then apply a generous portion of the mixture to a toothbrush and apply.
  3. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes, then rinse. Do this nightly.
You may notice an immediate difference with the first application, you may not. But if you’ll do it consistently for a few days to a week, I think you’ll be surprised by how much of a difference it makes.

Eat Blueberries To Live a Longer Life

Sometimes foods that are healthy don’t always appeal to a large number of people. Blueberries are an exception, however – they are both delicious and nutritious. Blueberries are truly one of the great superfoods for so many reasons. Although they can satisfy a sweet tooth, they are low in sugar and low on the glycemic index, so they will not cause blood sugar levels to spike up. They are full of healthy fiber to improve digestion and aid in weight loss for those who are trying to shed unwanted pounds. And they are incredibly rich in vitamins, minerals and bio-active compounds like anthocyanins which have powerful antioxidant properties. It is this strong combination of nutrients that lead to so many health benefits and, according to new studies, even a longer life span.

Longevity and DNA

While there are many diseases, illnesses and other conditions that can bring about premature death, the underlying cause of these problems involves DNA and its repair. There is DNA in every cell in the body and over the course of a lifetime, many things (such as illness, exposure to environmental toxins, or just the aging process) can damage that genetic material. At first, the cells are able to repair this DNA but as the body ages, they become less efficient at this. This results in DNA that is faulty or damaged, and this in turn can lead to problems like cancer that greatly shorten life expectancy.

However, the strong antioxidant properties of blueberries can help avoid this process and reduce the risk of DNA damage and flaws and thus improve the chances of avoiding many chronic diseases that can shorten life.

What blueberries can do

Because of their high antioxidant content, extracts of blueberries have shown the ability to help repair DNA damage and to reduce the oxidative stress to the cells that can bring about the damage to begin with. This means that, since the DNA damage is avoided from the start, then the chances of developing life-shortening diseases the cancer are likewise reduced.

Blueberries seem so incredibly effective at this that, in a joint study by the United States Department of Agriculture and other research organizations, scientists found that regular consumption of blueberries and their strong antioxidants can increase the lifespan about around 28 percent, or an average of 22 years. This is because blueberry plants evolved to be able to adapt to different environmental stresses like drought, high or low temperatures and other things that can threaten it.

When humans consume these berries, they are also able to take advantage of some of the beneficial compounds in berries. And the benefits are truly amazing, including:
  • Protect the nervous system, including the brain
  • Protect cells throughout the body from DNA damage due to free radical activity
  • Decrease the chances of chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease
In short, recent research has shown that regular blueberry consumption – which increases dietary intake of antioxidants – can reduce cellular and DNA damage and prevent the onset of many chronic diseases. The end result of this is a dramatic increase in quality and length of life.

Taking a Natural Approach to Finding a Cure

Taking a Natural Approach to Finding a Cure

I have often told my patients that if they are feeling aches and pains, the best thing they can have is fibromyalgia. Of course, a statement like that tends to create some confusion, considering that people with fibromyalgia are always told there is no cure for this condition. But, in fact, fibromyalgia is curable—despite what doctors say—when the underlying cause is treated.

Curing a disease requires treating the underlying cause of the condition; however, today’s medical system concentrates instead on treating symptoms, often with extremely toxic medications. In the case of fibromyalgia, the drug Lyrica, used to treat nerve pain, fits comfortably into this category. In addition, do not be deceived by the manufacturer’s TV ad suggesting that the pain of fibromyalgia is due to the overstimulation of nerve endings.

The pain of fibromyalgia, which is neither an inflammatory condition nor an autoimmune disease, is actually caused by the buildup of lactic acid in muscle tissue and tendon sheaths. It is the same pain referred to as “muscle burn” by athletes who work out. At this point it has become obvious that in order to eliminate the pain of fibromyalgia, one has to prevent the buildup of lactic acid, which, in turn, is accomplished by treating the underlying cause(s) of this condition.

There is no simple, one-size-fits-all underlying cause of fibromyalgia, but all causes share common factors. For example, the only situation that creates a buildup of lactic acid is persistent muscle tension over a certain amount of time. There are a number of things that can lead to muscle tension, but the one we will focus on is internalization of anger.

Anger can be an extremely powerful emotion. If people do not allow it to be released, it will be internalized and produce a situation creating persistent muscle tension, producing the buildup of lactic acid.

So the question arises: “Where does this anger come from?”

There appear to be two major sources: an extremely stressful relationship, such as living with an abusive spouse, necessitating “walking on eggshells;” or caregiving for a family member, requiring putting one’s own life on hold until that person passes on. The second major source of anger is actually a lot more common, and although it is consistently unrecognized as a source of anger, it is thankfully a lot easier to address. At this point we have arrived at the most common underlying cause of fibromyalgia: the presence of excess adrenaline.

As many people are aware, adrenaline is known as the fight-or-flight hormone. It is extremely powerful and is certainly capable of creating intense anger such as “road rage.” (I will be discussing the interrelationship between adrenaline and fibromyalgia, but please be aware that this hormone is also the underlying cause of many other conditions that are also felt to be incurable.)

As previously mentioned, the pain of fibromyalgia is caused by a buildup of lactic acid from constant muscle tension. Again, this can be caused by anger from certain interpersonal relationships or from the release of excess adrenaline. Contributing to the buildup is the tension of the muscles compressing small veins—venules—which carry lactic acid out of muscles. At the same time, muscle tension similarly compresses lymphatic vessels that also function to remove lactic acid from muscles. This creates a situation where the lactic acid is continuously building up, but is not able to be drained.

In addition, this persistent muscle tension is responsible for the constant fatigue that fibromyalgia patients complain of. Muscle tension is also responsible for other symptoms associated with this condition, such as temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ)—which causes pain and dysfunction in the jaw—the grinding of teeth, restless leg syndrome (RLS)—unpleasant sensations in the legs and an uncontrollable urge to move them—and occipital neuritis, which is a headache often confused with a migraine because of its severe pain radiating from the base of the skull to the back of the eye.

If one is able to accept that excess adrenaline is the underlying cause of many cases of fibromyalgia, then one can easily postulate that the lowering of adrenaline can actually be curative of this condition—and it is. Additionally, eliminating those stresses caused by the actions of other people can also cure fibromyalgia caused by unfortunate life situations. I have witnessed this repeatedly in multiple cases. It might not be easy getting rid of an abusive spouse, arranging caretakers for a family member, or even separating from a pet that causes anger, but the health rewards are worth pursuing these changes.

To lower adrenaline levels, we must first understand why the body overproduces this hormone. Up until a certain time in history, the body only produced excess adrenaline in times of danger. It allowed people to either face the danger or run away from it—the fight-or-flight response. Such a physical response lasted only a few minutes, and as soon as the danger passed, the adrenaline level returned to normal. Today, however, there are people who release adrenaline all day and night without being in danger. So why is this?

First, a little background information. It is important to understand that the brain uses more sugar than any other part of the body. When sugar is taken away from the brain, the brain falls asleep. This is commonly referred to as hypoglycemia. People often get sleepy between 3 and 4 p.m., when insulin levels peak. When insulin goes up, blood sugar goes down. Some people get hypoglycemic after eating, simply because food stimulates the release of insulin (some foods more than others). It is also not unusual for people to get sleepy in a car, either as a driver or as a passenger. The reason for this is that the brain uses up a lot of fuel when a person is riding in a car. From a survival standpoint, the body always wants to make sure the brain has enough fuel.

Thus, any time the body detects a low amount of fuel in the brain, it releases adrenaline to raise sugar levels. It is a process called gluconeogenesis, mediated by the sympathetic nervous system, and allows for the conversion of protein into sugar. We are now at the point that it is possible to visualize how fibromyalgia can be significantly improved simply by providing the brain with the necessary fuel to prevent the need for releasing adrenaline. Generally speaking, it only takes about 24 hours to significantly reduce adrenaline. This reduction causes a relaxation of muscle tension and an improvement in circulation, which allows for the elimination of excess lactic acid.

The best sugar for the brain can be found in green vegetables. However, the best fuels for the brain are those oils that create ketone bodies in the brain, such as coconut oil or palm oil. By incorporating these foods into your diet, you should notice a reduction in symptoms of excess adrenaline fairly rapidly. The other major component needed for reducing adrenaline is using bio-identical progesterone cream that has a strength of 5 percent (50 mg) per pump—the amount required to block adrenaline and control insulin. Additionally, ancillary aids to help with the symptoms of fibromyalgia include d-ribose, magnesium, coenzyme Q10, and certainly a high dose of vitamin D3 (10,000 to 15,000 IU per day), along with vitamin K2 (MK-7).

Generally speaking, use of these methods often leads to a cure for fibromyalgia in three days to three weeks.

Cinnamon Is The Magic Spice That Will Help You Get Rid Of The Embarrassing Presence Of Cellulite

When we ask the question where does our body store toxins? The answer is –in fat. This is sad, but also true. Therefore, to help get rid of the embarrassing presence of cellulite, it is crucial to remove the toxins accumulated in our bodies. Without taking action, the storage of toxins will just grow, making cellulite more bad looking as time passes.

According to one CNN article, cellulite is the issue that concerns 90% of women. Dermatologists from the University of Grenoble inform that the extract of cinnamon can be very effective in eliminating cellulite. In the experiment participated 80 women with cellulite problem. Half of the women were treated with special anti-cellulite massages and masks, while the rest were exposed to treatment with cinnamon oil. The result was that in the first group cellulite was reduced for 10% and in the second group for 60%

Cinnamon is among the most popular spices and its incredible health power is due to the high concentration of antioxidants. The connection between reduction in cellulite and cinnamon is made on a very logical base. Cellulite is associated with poor circulation and cinnamon improves circulation in the body, helping to stimulate the removal of built-up toxins, as well as cellulite, in the organism.

To get the most of the cinnamon benefits include this amazing spice in your daily diet. Sprinkle it over your oatmeal or cereals, or add it in your favorite smoothie, tea or coffee.

Cinnamon has some rather unexpected qualities. It’s a proven antibacterial, anti-fungal and antimicrobial substance. Doesn’t just go great on cakes!

It also has astringent properties similar to that of Witch Hazel, that means it helps firm skin, and clear blemishes. It’s perfect for areas of high cellulite because its astringent properties help tighten those areas.

Cinnamon is rich in benefiting minerals like Iron, calcium and Magnesium that help keep skin healthy.

Furthermore, cinnamon actually helps local blood circulation and consequently helps spread the distribution of cellulite making it the perfect addition in a body butter. It helps remove blood impurities reducing inflammation and is also recommended for acne. It’s quite possibly the ultimate cellulite busting ingredient to ever go into a body butter! We’ve also added Witch Hazel, again it’s primarily because of it’s astringent properties, and also it’s abiltiy to hydrate the skin for extensive time periods, that it makes the cut for this exclusive recipe.

We also included Vitamin E, which is the go to remedy for acne and operation scars. It’s known for reducing the harsh appearance of scars and so it makes a great addition to a cellulite body butter where those areas are often accompanied by stretch marks and pimpled skin.

So here’s our method for making homemade Cinnamon body butter for Cellulite:

Ingredients:

Now you can mix and match here, and leave either the Shea or Cocoa (just one) from the mixture and you can also leave out vitamin E if you like, but the other ingredients are pretty much essential for it to be useful.
  • 100 grams coconut oil (Where on earth do I buy that?)
  • 50 grams cocoa butter
  • 50 grams Shea butter
  • 50 ml witch hazel.
  • 1 tablespoon vitamin E oil (buy high quality here)
  • 30 drops of Cinnamon Oil
  • A whole Cinnamon Stick (crushed)

Instructions:

1) On the Hob, gently warm the cocoa butter and Shea Butter on a low to medium heat in a pan until it becomes liquid.

2) Slowly stir in the coconut oil for about a minute, then turn off the heat and let the mixture cool for 10 – 20 minutes. Don’t let it set fast!

3) As soon as it starts to cool, add the Cinnamon Oil, vitamin E and Witch Hazel.

4) Now, whip the mixture until it becomes light and fluffy. Break pieces of the cinnamon stick into the mixture.

Place it into an air-tight container, otherwise it will lose its consistency.

Use the body butter generously, and apply up to three times a day. You should be able to get some good results after a month of so. Additionally, massaging the affected area of cellulite helps to increase blood flow and also to help reduce any excess build up by distributing the cells evenly.

The Awful Truth Nobody Talks About : Why You Should NEVER Use Coffee Creamers

Have you ever heard that non-dairy coffee creamer is flammable? As it turns out, sodium aluminosilicate, an ingredient added to keep powdered creamer from caking together, can become flammable when dispersed.

If you’re a coffee drinker who likes adding coffee creamers to your morning coffee, thinking they are healthier for you than real cream, think again. Non-dairy creamer can hardly be called “cream” at all; it’s a mixture of chemicals, oils, sugars, and milk products.

Originally, in the 1950s, coffee mate creamers contained only sugar and cream. However, the manufacturers gradually replaced the cream and natural sugars with processed ingredients such as vegetable oils, chemical sweeteners and additional additives.

Today, powdered and liquid coffee creamers do not have any trace of actual food. The complete list of ingredients exactly as it appears on the label of powdered creamers:

INGREDIENTS: CORN SYRUP SOULIDS, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL. (MAY CONTAIN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOUOWING OILS: SOYBEAN, CANOLA, SUNFLOWER, CORN, OR COTTONSEED). SODIUM CASEINATE (A MILK DERIVATIVE), DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES SODIUM SILICIALUMINATE, SOY LECHITHIN ARTIFICAL FLAVOR, ARTIFICAL COLOR.
CONTAINS MILK AND SOYMILK INGREDIENTS.

Processed Sugar : Processed sugar feeds cancer cells, triggers weight gain, and promotes premature aging. Since processed sugar doesn’t offer any health benefits, your body tends to borrow potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium from healthy cells from different parts of the body in an effort to counteract the effects of processed sugar.

Vegetable Oil ( Partially Hydrogenated Coconut Or Palm Kernel, Hydrogenated Soybean – Trans – Fatty Acids ) : Trans fats (found in partially-hydrogenated oils) cause heart disease, diabetes and many other chronic degenerative conditions. After ingesting these trans – fatty acids, they are incorporated into cells and the cells are hydrogenated. Surprisingly, the body cannot distinguish between cis – and trans – fatty acids. Hydrogenation of cells leads to increased rates of heart attack, sexual dysfunction, weakened immune system, cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetes and obesity.

Corn Syrup Solids : Corn syrup is a type of sugar (mostly dextrose) that is made from cornstarch. Corn syrup solids are produced when corn starch is bathed in hydrochloric acid which is an industrial chemical solution with highly corrosive properties that is also used in the manufacturing of plastics. Additionally, the corn itself is most likely derived from GMO varieties, which makes it even more toxic and dangerous.

Sodium Caseinate :
( a milk derivative ). The chemical name for a protein found in milk, sodium caseinate is often added to “non-dairy” creamers to whiten them. It is also used in paints and plastics. It is associated with allergies, neurological conditions, and autoimmune reactions such as juvenile-onset type 1 diabetes.

Di potassium Phosphate : Dipotassium phosphate acts as a stabilizer to prevent coagulation in products like non-dairy creamer. It can cause:

1. Pneumonia
2. Acute renal failure
3. Nausea and vomiting
4. Diarrhea
5. Asthenia ( weakness )
6.Decreased hemoglobin

Mono And Diglycerides :
These additives have either one (mono) or two (di) fatty acids attached to a glycerol (sugar alcohol) molecule. Typically, they are used in food to “blend together certain ingredients, such as oil and water, which would otherwise not blend well.”

Sodium Aluminosilicate:

Sodium aluminosilicate or aluminum calcium silicate are added to table salt to neutralize stomach acid. Sodium aluminum phosphate is an additive in most baking powders, cake mixes and self-rising flower. If this form of aluminum combines with maltol, a sugar-like flavoring agent, the resulting aluminum compound is able to get through the blood-brain barrier 90 times as well. Side effects: Constipation. Toxicity, Side Effects, Liver Disease, Renal Failure

You Should Be Drinking Your Coffee Black

If you are not drinking your coffee black, you are missing out on the health benefits that coffee can offer. There is evidence that the milk interferes with the health-inducing flavonols, which Dr. Joseph Mercola pointed out as early as 2008. Dr Mercola also noted that:

Epicatechin, a compound found in unrefined cocoa, is another one of the powerhouse compounds that makes dark chocolate good for you, according to Norman Hollenberg, professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, who has spent years studying the effects of routine cocoa drinking on the Kuna people of Panama….Unfortunately, epicatechin is removed from commercial cocoas because it tends to have a bitter taste….

So if you do choose to add cream to your coffee, make sure it’s the old-fashioned full-fat organic cream.

What Happens To Your Body When You Stop Eating White Bread

What Happens To Your Body When You Stop Eating White Bread

Bread is a favorite food to many. Many can’t imagine their day without eating bread. But equally, this carbohydrate bomb comes in many different forms some of which are harmful to our bodies and line, while others deserve nothing but praise.

Here’s what will happen to your body if you stop eating white bread completely.

You’ll Lose Weight Caused By Water

Bread is full of carbohydrates, and rapidly expelling them from your eating translates almost immediately in the form of weight loss. But it’s not about instant weight loss, but the loss of water that accumulates in the body.

The body stores carbohydrates in the form of glycogen, a lactic acid that collects water. Each gram of carbohydrate retained in the body, the body retains and binds three to four times more water than its weight.

You Won’t Be Constantly Hungry

Processed carbohydrates, of which white bread is full, causes sudden increase in the in blood sugar levels which then quickly fall. These crazy changes send confusing signals to the brain. As a result, hunger and food cravings occur and you gain weight.

But that does not mean you have to cut out bread from your diet altogether, but to replace the empty calories of white bread with whole grains that regulate and balance blood sugar.

Your Energy Will Increase, And Your Digestion Will Improve

Unlike integrated or black, white bread doesn’t contain fibers that are more than necessary for normal bowel function and digestion. This is why such foods cause constipation and problems with digestion. Once you eject white bread from your diet, and incorporate whole grains in your daily diet, your digestion will improve.

Also, carbohydrates are food and fuel for the brain. If the carbohydrates are of a good quality, the brain will work normally, without interference, but if the food is not healthy for the brain, the body reacts negatively, and the feeling of malaise and fatigue appears.
