This Is What Happens To Your Lungs If You Smoke Marijuana

Since tobacco smoking causes cancer, marijuana smoking must as well. Right? Wrong.

Marijuana decreases the risk of lung cancer. Marijuana does not cause chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Thus, Pot is safer than cigarettes.

Professor emeritus of medicine at UCLA and one of the United States’ leading pulmonologists who has been studying weed and its effects on lungs for more than 30 years, Dr. Donald Tashkin once sought to prove pot causes lung cancer, but the evidence forced him to conclude that average weed smoking does not cause lung cancer or impair lung function:

“The smoke content of marijuana is very similar to that of tobacco. There is a higher concentrate of cancer-causing chemicals in marijuana tar, and it reaches the lungs before any other organ, so there is this idea that they are related in causing the same health issues of the lungs. But through my studies we failed to find any positive association [with cancer]. Instead, the association would be negative, between lung cancer and the use of marijuana. The likelihood is, that despite the fact that marijuana smoke contains carcinogens, we don’t see the same heightened risks of cancers that we see in tobacco.”


Dr. Tashkin is not alone in his analysis. To investigate the association between cannabis smoking and lung cancer risk, data on 2,159 lung cancer cases and 2,985 controls were pooled from 6 case-control studies in the US, Canada, UK, and New Zealand within the International Lung Cancer Consortium. Results from the pooled analyses in 2014 provided little evidence for an increased risk of lung cancer among habitual or long-term cannabis smokers.
“I was opposed to legalization because I thought it would lead to increased use and that would lead to increased health effects. But at this point, I’d be in favor of legalization. I wouldn’t encourage anybody to smoke any substances. But I don’t think it should be stigmatized as an illegal substance. Tobacco smoking causes far more harm. And in terms of an intoxicant, alcohol causes far more harm.” – Dr. Tashkin

Dr. Tashkin also found that smoking marijuana, unlike smoking tobacco, does not cause COPD.

“Reasoning for this may be that marijuana is a potent anti-inflammatory and suppressive. But COPD is activated by tobacco smoke and other toxic substances. The other major impact of tobacco smoking on the lungs is the association between smoking tobacco and the development of destructive pulmonary disease, the third cause of death in America.”

Again, his current findings echo results from previous research. In a large cross-sectional analysis of US adults aged 18 to 59 using data from two rounds of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES), researchers from Georgia’s Emory University found in 2015 that occasional and low cumulative marijuana use was not associated with adverse effects on pulmonary function.
Cumulative lifetime marijuana use, up to 20 joint-years, is not associated with adverse changes in spirometric [a person’s ability to exhale] measures of lung health. Although greater than 20 joint-years of cumulative marijuana exposure was associated with a twofold increased odds of a FEV1/FVC less than 70%, this was the result of an increase in FVC [forced vital capacity], rather than a disproportional decrease in FEV1 [forced expiratory volume]as is typically associated with obstructive lung diseases.

The largest and longest study ever to consider the issue [Researchers tested the lung function of 5115 young adults over the course of 20 years, starting in 1985 when they were aged 18 to 30], published in 2012 in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that occasional marijuana smoking does not impair lung function
Marijuana may have beneficial effects on pain control, appetite, mood, and management of other chronic symptoms. Our findings suggest that occasional use of marijuana for these or other purposes may not be associated with adverse consequences on pulmonary function.


Marijuana plus tobacco equals lung poison

Consultant Physician at St. Lucia’s Victoria Hospital, Dr. Martin Didier, warns:

Tobacco contains over 4,000 toxic substances which destroys your lungs. Marijuana for all we know is less toxic, probably contains up to 400 but the combination of smoking marijuana and tobacco they interact and it changes the whole thing into a poison. A poison which destroys the structure and function of the lungs with a lot of consequences.”

Allen St. Pierre, executive director of the National Organization to Reform Marijuana Laws, told ThinkProgress:
“If we’re serious public policy people, we would let the scientists figure this out. Does one set of vegetative matter produce a certain range of carcinogens? If so, to what degree and amount? How do people consume it? This entire discussion should be based on science. But the laughable thing is that the government is against this type of research. All we have are anecdotes but we need science that meets the standards of a proper peer review.”

New Study Found Popular Baby Powder Is Causing Cancer

Baby powder, or talcum powder, has been a go-to product to prevent rashes, cool skin and freshen up for quite some time. This product takes up space on many store shelves, but some have suggested that talcum powder may be linked to ovarian cancer.

This is because talc powder has chemical similarities to asbestos, a known carcinogen found in fire-resistant and insulating materials. In the 1970s, 10 out of 20 cosmetic-grade talc samples tested positive for asbestos. However, Johnson & Johnson, a talc powder manufacturer, declared that their products were asbestos free.

The Cramer Study


In 1982, 215 women, suffering from ovarian cancer, participated in a study made to analyze the correlation between talc powder and ovarian cancer. 43% of women reported using cosmetic-grade talc powder on their genital areas.

The study revealed that talc powder can remain in ovaries for many years, causing inflammation and creating a cancerous environment.

 
Here are the stats:

  • Talcum powder was proven to increase the risk of ovarian cancer by 33%
  • 10,000 women develop ovarian cancer as a result of baby powder use
  • Women are three times more likely to develop ovarian cancer when it is used in the genital area
So why is talcum powder still on the shelves?

Despite the results of the study, a 1999 study using the same women stated that the association between talc powder and ovarian cancer was “modest” and that previous studies had results that were not of “statistical significance.”

The 1999 study has its own limitations however. Researchers had no way of verifying the duration of talc powder use and how that relates to ovarian cancer. Also, the study was only done with women who had already been pregnant. The effects of talc use prior to a woman’s first pregnancy were not analyzed here. 
Alternatives


Are researchers trying to calm our nerves or protect the pockets of big companies like Johnson & Johnson? It’s hard to say. But there’s no need to wait around while you potentially put your life in jeopardy.

Since this plan has you cut out carbs, Blatner says it can increase the likelihood of water flux—meaning you’ll lose more weight—because our bodies hold on to water when we eat carbs.

Nonetheless, you’ll gain it all back in 24 to 48 hours from when you stop fasting, says Blatner. Which is depressing, and can have a serious effect on your self confidence. “When you’re continuously trying and failing at long-term weight loss because of these fad diets, it takes a toll on your self-esteem,” says Blatner. Instead, try implementing more weight loss strategies into your daily life—ones that have been proven to work in the long run—so that they become a healthy habit. Blatner suggests these four “food rules” whenever weight loss—or weight maintenance–is the goal:
  • Eat slowly. Try putting the same amount of food on a smaller plate if you gravitate toward visual cues. Either way, slow down and really chew your food to enjoy the different tastes you’re experiencing.
  • Cut down, not out, your favorite foods. There’s no need for deprivation here, as Blatner says it often leads to bingeing whenever (not if ever) you give in. She suggests implementing strategies like “I’ll have sweets/alcohol/fill in the blank in social situations and refuse to feel bad about it. Not at home, not alone.”
  • Snack on more vegetables. We keep saying it over and over again for a reason. Not only are they super low in calories, but they help you stay healthy and feel energized throughout your day.
  • Dig in to balanced meals on a regular schedule.“Willpower is highest when we have an even flow of blood glucose to our brain,” which happens when we’re regularly feeding it, not depriving it.

The Moon Diet: Is There Any Scientific Basis?

The link between the moon and our bodies is not completely understood by scientists. However, our moods and emotions tend to rise when there is a full moon and can yield several outcomes that affect our health. Hot dogs are America’s number one treat with more than seven billion of them consumed every summer. They hit the streets in the 19th century when they were introduced by the German immigrants. Soon, they were given an iconic status and became a part of many nations’ eating culture.


But when you look at what goes into hot dogs and how they are made, you might be surprised to find out that this much loved food is lurking with health dangers.

Hot Dogs are a Health Hazard

Frankfurters are nutritionally empty processed foods. There is nothing natural about them and the factories produce them in a highly robotized manner at an astonishing rate of 300,000 hot dogs per hour.

Traditionally, hot dogs are made from a mixture of pork, beef and chicken. Leftovers from cutting steaks or pork chops and ‘edible’ slaughter by-products are used. These include fatty tissue, skins, animal feet and heads.

These trimmings are grounded and mixed together into a thick paste. To make the sausages taste good, a plethora of additives is added, including excessive amounts of salt, corn syrup, monosodium glutamate (MSG), nitrates, and other chemicals (in this regard, read my previous article about the top 10 worst ingredients in food).

Flavorings vary depending on where the hot dogs are sold, as people in different regions have different tastes. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) doesn’t require manufacturers to list flavorings on the label, so just about anything goes. Flavorings include the infamous monosodium glutamate (MSG) and carmine – a dye from the shells of small beetles, boiled in ammonia or sodium carbonate.


Hot Dogs can Cause Cancer

Nitrates and nitrites are the next on the list of problematic additives used in hot dogs. In the presence of high heat they combine with amines in processed meat to form nitrosamines.

It’s the nitrosamines that have been linked to cancer – especially colon, bladder, stomach, and pancreas cancer.

According to the American Institute for Cancer Research, one hot dog a day increasesyour risk for colorectal cancer by 21%. Even organic hot dogs contain nitrite, sometimes even in higher amounts than the conventional hot dogs.

Processed meats in general have been shown to increase the risk of pancreatic cancer by 67% in a study by the University of Hawaii.
Hot Dogs can Contain Foreign Objects

Sometimes, foreign objects are also found in your favorite wurst. The following have been recorded: Band-Aids, glass shards, razor blades, metal fragments, maggots, rat legs, and pieces of eyeballs.

The speed of the production allows contaminants to ‘sneak’ into the final product unnoticed, so you can get some nasty surprises.


Hot Dogs Contribute to Childhood Obesity

Hot dogs are listed among the unhealthy foods that contribute to increasing rates of childhood obesity, which is of course linked to a myriad of health problems.

If you think you cannot go without hot dogs, then eat them once in a while and go for brands that:
  • Contain no nitrates.
  • Say 100% beef, or 100% chicken, so that you know no by-products have been used.
  • Contain no MSG, corn syrup, preservatives and additives.
  • Are sold by small, local farmers that produce them on their farms.
Best of all, avoid processed meats all together. If you eat meat, make sure it comes from grass-fed, organically and humanly raised animals. And don’t forget to eat plenty of fresh vegetables with it.

A few decades from now, will it be common knowledge that using microwave radiation to heat food is harmful to human health? It’s certainly a possibility, and information is already emerging which shows cause for concern. Microwaves work by causing water molecules to resonate at very high frequencies, converting them into steam and thereby heating your food. While this might be a convenient way to prepare your food, using microwave radiation in this way actually changes the chemical structure of that food.

You might be wondering how this is any different from heating your food on the stove or steaming it, and that’s a fair question. The difference is that microwaves deform and distort the molecules in food, while conventional heating methods do not.

This is problematic in the medical field as well. We know, for example, that during blood transfusions, microwaves are often used to heat the blood before it is transferred to the patient. But using microwave radiation to this actually damages components found in blood. In fact, one woman even died after receiving a blood transfusion of microwaved blood. (source)

It is starting to look like microwaving can completely rid your food of most essential nutrients, but more research on this phenomenon needs to be done. That being said, there are some publications we can refer to if you’d like to find out more information regarding the harmful effects of microwaves on nutrients.

One example comes from 2003. A study published in The Journal of the Science of Food and Agricultureexamined what microwaves do to broccoli, finding that broccoli, after being microwaved, lost up to 97 percent of its beneficial antioxidants. By comparison, when researchers steamed broccoli, they discovered that it only lost 11 percent or fewer of its antioxidants. (source)

A study out of Australia showed that microwaves cause a greater level of “protein unfolding” than conventional heating. It found that “microwaves cause a significantly higher degree of unfolding then conventional thermal stress for protein solutions heating to the same maximum temperature.” (source)

A study using garlic found that just 60 seconds in a microwave can render its principle active ingredient (alliinase) as useless. Microwaves have also been found to destroy immune-boosting agents that are found in breast milk. These are disease fighting nutrients which are essential to the health and development of the child. For example, one study found that microwaving breast milk caused a decrease in lysozyme activity and antibodies, and aided the growth of more pathogenic bacteria. A Japanese study found that only 6 minutes of microwave heating turned approximately 40 percent of the B12 found in milk dead and completely void of any nutritional value. (source)

Three recent studies of historical food composition have shown up to 40 percent declines in some of the minerals commonly found in fresh produce, and another one found the same thing for their protein source. (source)

A Scandinavian study conducted in 1999 also found that cooking asparagus in the microwave results in a reduction in vitamins. (Kidmose U and Kaack K. Acta. Agriculturae Scandinavica B1999:49(2).110-117.)


What Type of Container Are You Using To Microwave Your Food?

Not heating your food in plastic containers should be a no brainer at this point. This is precisely why the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends that any plastic containers should be labelled for microwave use, but even if they are labeled as safe, it’s still probably not a good idea. Many studies have shown that multiple plastic products contain various hormone disrupting chemicals, and heat is the worst culprit when it comes to increasing the rate of chemical transfer from the container to your food.

As written in the journal Toxicology Letters:
Using a sensitive and quantitative competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, BPA was found to migrate from polycarbonate water bottle at rates ranging from 0.20 ng/h to 0.79/h. . . . At room temperature the migration of BPA was independent of whether or not the bottle had been perviously used. Exposure to boiling water increased the rate of BPA migration by up to 55-fold.
Again, heat increases chemical leaching, so be cautious of what you use to heat your food. Even plastic containers which are labelled as microwave safe (or even BPA free, which does not account for other worrisome chemicals) are still dangerous. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), “what the term ‘microwave-safe’ basically means is that any chemicals leaching from the container into food do so at levels far below those shown to have any health effects. There is cause to be wary of this claim, however. In particular, #7 polycarbonate plastic should not be used in a microwave, even if it is labeled ‘microwave-safe,’ because it leaches hormone-disrupting bisphenol A (BPA), especially when heated.” (source)

This may be frightening to consider, but examining the products we choose to use on a daily basis is important. We have seen many examples in recent human history of information coming to light about a product or drug which completely changes our understanding and attitude towards it. These come in so many “fruit” flavors and characters they maybe hard to resist, until you realize they are made mostly is artificial additives and colors. Red 3 is a commonly used food coloring, also known as E127 or Erythrosine, a petroleum product.


M & M’s

They are fun colorful chocolate candies that melt in your mouth and not in your hands… These colors are artificial and are harmful when ingested. The colors utilized are, Blue #2: Is a petroleum based product that increases hyperactivity in children, increases brain tumors in lab rats and other abnormal cell development. Blue #1: Produces malignant tumors. Red #40: Damages DNA. Yellow #6: Can cause cancer and Yellow #5: All of these artificial colors are made from petroleum and can cause, in addition, allergic reactions, hyperactivity, and cancer.


Cheetos

Those orange, cheesy snacks. The artificial color that creates the “cheese” color is made from Yellow 6, which we know is derived from petroleum. As is the “cheese” flavoring, including, methyl benzoate and ethyl methylphenidate.


Teddy grams

They have been around since 1988 and are available in 5 different flavors. These tiny bears are a great size for even small fingers but they are laced with the dreaded TBHQ. TBHQ can be toxic and also cause nausea, vomiting, ringing in the ear, delirium and collapse. It is shown to cause stomach cancer in lab rats, fragment DNA and cause damage to humane lung and umbilical cells. In children it can cause anxiety, restlessness, and intensify the symptoms of ADHD.

A latest study released in the Annals of Nutrition & Metabolism proved that the best option for breakfast is the oatmeal.

During this study 36 men and women were subjected where both genders consumed 350 calories, but were divided into three different groups. The first group consumed oatmeal for breakfast, the second group consumed cornflakes and the third one didn’t eat breakfast but drank only water. In the next three hours, all of the subjects had to continuously measure their state of satiety, and gave blood samples in order to control their blood sugar and insulin levels. They all ate the same food for lunch.

The experts proved their expectations that the group of people who consumed oatmeal was the least hungry through the morning and afternoon, and they consumed 31% less calories for their lunch. In addition, oatmeal had beneficial effect in people with excess weight, as they ate 50% less calories for their lunch. The participants who consumed cornflakes already felt hunger three hours after their breakfast. The group that drank only water for breakfast was also hungry three hours after breakfast.

The second group ate the same quantity of calories as the first group, and yet the people felt hungry after three hours. This is because the oatmeal retains longer in the stomach, which is not the case with cornflakes which increase the glucose levels in the blood. This automatically causes quick and unexpected drop.

There are many researches and this is only one of them. It acknowledges the oatmeal as one of the most useful foods if you like to lose some weight because those 31-50% of less calories will surely be felt and noticed during a longer period of time.

Even scientists now recognize the power agents that exist within some essential oils which stops cancer spreading, and which induces cancerous cells to close themselves down. Their disease-preventing ability is no longer doubted, especially for cancer.

A healthy body, from head to foot, typically has a frequency ranging from 62 to 78 MHz, while disease begins at 58Hz. During some testing with frequency and the frequency of essential oils it was measured that: Holding a cup of coffee dropped one man’s frequency from 66 Hz to 58 MHz in just 3 seconds. It took three days for his frequency to return to normal.

Other studies show that: Negative thoughts lower our frequency on average 12 MHz. Positive thoughts raises our frequency on average 10 MHz.

Studying some of the most popular essential oils in current use, such as mint, ginger, lemon, grapefruit, jasmine, lavender, chamomile, thyme, rose, and cinnamon, researchers sought out to discover how these oils may combat cancer. They did so by testing antibacterial potency as well as in vitro toxicology against human cancer cell lines.

Bruce Tainio of Tainio Technology and head of the Department of Agriculture at Eastern Washington University has developed a Calibrated Frequency Monitor (CFM) that has been used to measure the frequencies of essential oils and their effect on human frequencies when applied to the body. If you place the towel under your chest- you will have the effect of lifting the chest.

If you apply it on the area below the ribs-the waist will be more emphatic.

Be aware because even after 5 minutes of lying in this position, the bones and ankles will become inflexible. So you should avoid sudden movements after the treatment. First, lay on the side, then sit for a while and then you can stand up. Remember, don’t do any sudden movements.

Even if you are a skeptical, you have nothing to lose if you try it. Don’t forget to measure your volumes before the implementation of this treatment.
