How To Get Rid Of A Toothache In Just A Few Minutes

Worldwide, 60 to 90 percent of school children and nearly all adults have dental cavities, often leading to toothache. The oral bacteria in our mouth thrive on sugars and starches that we eat, and produce enamel-eroding acids; the main cause of tooth decay in humans.

When you have a toothache, it is recommended to seek immediate advice from a dentist. There are, however, several natural remedies which can help to quickly relieve the pain.

1. Oregano Oil, Colloidal Silver And Warm Salt Water
Start with several drops of oregano oil under the tongue, and hold for a few minutes. Then, swish around colloidal silver as many times as once per hour. After a few hours, ingest additional colloidal silver, but not more than a total of 8 ounces in a day. In between the colloidal silver swishes, perform a warm salt water swish using preferably sea salt and rub more oregano oil into your gums.

2. Salt And Pepper
Salt and pepper have strong anti-bacterial properties and can effectively relieve a toothache. Mix equal portions of regular table salt and pepper with a little water to make toothpaste. Then, apply the toothpaste on the infected tooth and let it act for a couple of minutes.

3. Oil Pulling
The main benefit of oil pulling is that it reduces the amount of harmful bacteria in the mouth, thus lowering the risk of tooth infection. Put 2 tablespoons of oil in your mouth, then swish it around for 15-20 minutes. If you oil pull for a few days in a row, you can also treat bad breath and yellow teeth.

4. Garlic - A Natural Antibiotic

Garlic is another efficient home remedy for toothache. Simply crush a garlic clove or take some garlic powder and mix it with some table salt. Apply this directly on the infected tooth. Chewing one or two garlic cloves can give even better results. Continue with this treatment for a few days.

5. Onion Can Help Reduce The Pain
Due to their strong antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, onions are highly beneficial for relieving toothache. To reduce the pain, simply chew a raw onion for a few minutes.

6. Ginger - One Of The Best Natural Pain Killers

Soak some fresh ginger root in water for a while then gargle with it.

7. Clove Toothache Compress For Pain Relief

Smash 2 cloves and mix them with some olive or any vegetable oil. Apply this on the painful area. It's an extremely effective pain reliever. You can also mix drops of clove oil in a glass of water and rinse your mouth with it.

8. Turmeric For Cavity Pain
Mix a few drops of mustard oil with half a teaspoon of turmeric powder to create a thick paste. Apply this on your cavity and leave it for 15 minutes before you spit it out. To relieve the pain, do this regularly.

9. Black Tea For Toothache

The presence of astringent tannin in black tea can help reduce swelling and temporarily relieve pain.

10. Guava Leaves - A Herbal Remedy

Simply chew 2 or 3 guava leaves or, put some guava leaves in boiling water adding some salt in it. When it cools off, use it as a mouth wash.

11. Ice Pack To Numb The Nerve Endings

Place an ice pack against your cheek over the affected area. If this does not work, you can also put a crushed ice cube in your mouth or gargle with icy cold water for a few minutes.

12. Peppermint Leaves - A Natural Pain Reliever
Efficiently alleviate pain by chewing some fresh peppermint leaves. Dried leaves can also be used in case you can not find fresh ones.

10 Simple Juicing Recipes For Cleansing The Body of Toxins

Modern unhealthy diets and polluted environment cause toxins to build up in our bodies, which is why a detoxification program is so important. Detoxification improves circulation, eliminates wastes, and refuels the body. Many detoxification programs involve lengthy fasts, which can be dangerous and difficult. The truth is you don’t have to fall back on these measures to detoxify your body; simply drinking a juice with detoxifying properties can be highly effective in keeping your body healthy.

When most people think of juices, they think of fruits, but the truth is that many detoxifying juices contain a combination of fruits and vegetables. Some juicers are only capable of creating juice from citrus plants, so be sure to bear this in mind when purchasing your juicer. If you are interested in making detoxifying juices, you need to get a juicer that can handle fruits and vegetables.

Once you have the proper juicer, begin your detoxifying process with the following:

Tropical Paradise Juice

This is a great juice to drink in the morning, as it helps loosen digestive buildup that occurred overnight. It also contains a lot of sweet fruits, so it tastes great!

A 10 Pound “Miracle” Fruit That Smells Like Rotting Onions and Tastes Like Pulled Pork Could Save Millions From Starvation

On the outside, this giant fruit resembles something out of the Jurassic era and emits a sweet yet putrid stench.

But don’t be fooled: The fruit, known as a jackfruit, is being hailed as a “miracle” crop that could save millions from starvation. And the unique fruit inside of it is just the beginning of the jackfruit’s many wonders.

A 10 Pound “Miracle” Fruit That Smells Like Rotting Onions and Tastes Like Pulled Pork Could Save Millions From Starvation

Jackfruit is the largest tree-borne fruit in the world — one fruit can weigh between 10 and 100 pounds and contain hundreds of seeds that are rich in protein, potassium, calcium, and iron — all of which are important for bodily growth.

This enigmatic fruit is native to South and Southeast Asia; it is rare to find jackfruit in the US. Luckily, Chinatown in Manhattan sells whole, fresh jackfruit.

To get a first-hand look at this leathery, prickly food, Business Insider trekked from the Flatiron district to Chinatown where we spotted a jackfruit being offered by one of the many street vendors. The vendor was selling it for $2.50 per pound.

It is common to purchase freshly sliced jackfruit by the pound, but we were on a mission to learn everything we could about this monster fruit, so we bought the whole, uncut 10 pounds of it.

Two women in Hong Kong purchase some fleshy lobes of Jackfruit as a man extracts them from the fibrous shell.

Here’s more about the strange but beneficial fruit.

‘It’s a miracle’

Nyree Zerega is a plant biologist at the Chicago Botanic Garden who has studied the genetic diversity of jackfruit tress in Bangladesh.

“In Bangladesh, where jackfruit is the national fruit, it is often considered the second-most important crop after mangos,” Zerega told Business Insider.

“And if you have space to grow something, you almost always have a jackfruit tree — due to both its valuable fruits and timber.”

Besides food, the jackfruit tree provides some of the following:

  • The leaves from jackfruit trees can be a source of food for goats and other farm animals.
  • The bark has an orange color, shown in the picture to the right, that was traditionally used as a dye for monk’s robes.
  • The trees produce a sticky latex substance that can be used as glue.
  • Wood from the trees can be sold or used as timber.
As popular as jackfruit is in Bangladesh, it is avoided in India, where it is thought to have originated and where it could bring copious amounts of food to millions of people who are starving and malnourished. That’s why the jackfruit tree — which can grow up to 150 jackfruits over the two harvest seasons it typically has each year — is so important.

A single jackfruit can yield hundreds of the small, yellow, fruit lobes (or bulbs) — each of which contain a highly nutritious seed. The fruit itself is a good source of Vitamin C, while the seeds are rich in protein, potassium, calcium, and iron. About one-fifth of a pound of the fruit has approximately 95 calories.

It’s a miracle. It can provide so many nutrients and calories – everything,” Shyamala Reddy, who is a biotechnology researcher at the University of Agriculture Sciences in Bangalore, India, told The Guardian earlier this year.

“If you just eat 10 or 12 bulbs of this fruit, you don’t need food for another half a day.”

Dry it, fry it, juice it, BBQ it — just don’t let it go bad

A single fruit could feed your family for an entire meal, Zerega told Business Insider. That’s partly due to its size, but also because of the many different ways that people have learned to prepare the jackfruit. It can either be eaten ripe, when it is soft, fruity, and delicious, or unripe, when it resembles a potato.

In Bangladesh and other parts of Southeast Asia, jackfruit is served in dozens of ways. Jackfruit curry, stir fry, juice, chips, ice cream, and even baking flour — made from drying and grinding the seeds or fruit — are just a few examples of jackfruit’s remarkable versatility in the kitchen.

However, jackfruit does not keep for more than a few weeks after harvest, Zerega said, so a good way to preserve it (if you’re not going to make a jackfruit feast like the one in the photo below) is to store it in cans or dry it out into chips.

Here’s a table displaying over a dozen different styles of jackfruit preparation:

A growing movement

While millions of households in Vietnam, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and elsewhere across South and Southeast Asia are incorporating the jackfruit into their dishes, India remains reluctant.

Reportedly, up to 75% of jackfruit grown in India goes to waste, partly because the fruit goes bad if it’s not eaten or preserved within a few weeks.

But more than that, jackfruit has a bad reputation to overcome.

“Historically, jackfruit has a reputation for being a poor man’s fruit,” Zerega said. “It’s not the kind of thing that many people would ever think of buying because it grows everywhere in certain parts of India.”

Fortunately for the fruit, it has a growing number of fans advocating for it, trying to raise awareness for its nutritional value.

“My country is silently allowing [the] lion’s share of our jackfruits to rot,” Shree Padre, who lives in the Indian state of Kerala, told Business Insider in an email. “This disturbed me.”

Padre is the editor of a 27-year-old Indian magazine called “Adike Patrike,” and over the last six years he has orchestrated 16 issues dedicated to the jackfruit. Padre also helps organize jackfruit festivals in India.

“Countries like Vietnam, Philippines, and Malaysia are minting money from jackfruit. Sri Lanka proudly calls it [the] ‘tree of rice,'” Padre said. “But ironically, in [the] motherland of jackfruit, we still haven’t understood jackfruit’s importance.”

The future of jackfruit in India

Because of its versatility, Padre estimates that farmers in India could earn about $151 per jackfruit tree because of all the different products you can make with its bark, fruit, natural latex, and more.

“It has five raw materials in one,” he said. “No other crop of the world will come near to the number of products and recipes that can be made from jackfruit.”

One jackfruit tree could bring in more than half the average monthly income for an Indian worker, which is $295, according to the International Labor Organization. (The average American monthly income is $3,236.)

What’s more, jackfruit trees are generally easier and cheaper to cultivate than other popular staples like wheat and corn because they don’t have to be replanted every year, Zerega said.

“As long as it’s growing in a climate that is conducive to its survival … jackfruit is relatively easy to maintain,” she told Business Insider.

However, for India, making a business out of selling jackfruit like the Vietnamese have done will be difficult, at first, which is why Indian locals should first focus on eating the fruit

Zerega says that harvesting and processing jackfruit is currently very laborious with little mechanization, and while farming and exporting jackfruit could grow to be a lucrative business for India in the future, it is also important to focus on it as a valuable food source within the country.

“A lot of underutilized crops like jackfruit have a ton of potential to produce food more locally and more sustainable, so there’s not as much reliance on imports from other countries. This local market development is important to focus on,” Zerega said. “But ultimately they can also provide countless opportunities as valuable export products.”

Fascinating Evidence Shows Why Water Fasting Could Be One Of The Healthiest Things You Can Do

$

**Please be advised that you should properly research how to fast if it’s something you are considering. This is just a tidbit of information that’s out there. If you have pre-existing health conditions, fasting may not be right for you. Make sure and do your research before embarking on something like this.

Fasting is the process of abstaining from food (and drink in some cases) for extended periods of time. It’s a practice that dates back thousands of years, utilized by various cultures around the world throughout human history for multiple purposes. These reasons include both health and spiritual reasons, which will be touched upon later in this article.
“Fasting is the first principle of medicine; fast and see the strength of the spirit reveal itself.” – Rumi
Today, fasting is considered to be taking place if you don’t eat for a period of at least 8-12 hours. So technically, most of us are participating in a period of fasting every night when we sleep. In the morning, we break our fast, this is where the term breakfast comes from. Animals are constantly fasting, especially when they are sick. In fact, humans are the only animals who eat when they are sick despite their body telling them not to do so.
“Everyone has a doctor in him; we just have to help him in his work. The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well. …to eat when you are sick, is to feed your sickness.” – Hippocrates
Contrary to popular belief, fasting isn’t dangerous or unhealthy if it’s done properly, it’s actually healthy and beneficial.

A Brief Summary Of What Happens To Your Body When You Fast

When you fast, the body is deprived of its normal source of energy, food, by turning it into glucose. The liver stores lots of sugar, in a form called glycogen, which is used for energy when the body isn’t taking in any of the food. Most of this energy source is depleted within the first 24 hours of fasting.

After this, the body switches into a state known as ketosis, which uses the body’s fatty acids as fuel in replacement of the depleted glucose levels. This change usually begins on the second day, most likely ending on the third. What happens here is that the body converts glycerol, which is available in the body’s fat stores, into glucose for energy -but it’s still not enough. The body gets the rest of its energy from breaking down the amino acids in muscle tissue, which are used by the liver to make more glucose for energy.

After this process, ketone production is sufficient enough to provide almost all of the energy the body needs, and the body begins to conserve large amounts of protein. The body is capable of preserving this protein to protect muscle tissue and vital organs from damage during long periods of food deprivation. After prolonged fasts of more than a week, the body starts seeking out non-body protein sources of fuel, which include nonessential cellular masses like degenerative tissues, bacteria, viruses or anything else in the body that can be used for fuel.

The conservation of the body’s protein is believed by many to be an evolutionary development that exists to protect muscle tissue and vital organs from damage during periods of insufficient food availability.

When you fast, just like when you sleep, the body is focused on the removal of toxins and the regeneration of damaged tissue.

What Modern Day Science Tells Us About Fasting

The benefits of fasting have been outlined in numerous scientific studies. Studies show that short term fasting can extend your life span, boost immunity and regenerate stem cells. The list goes on and on.

One of the most recent studies published on the subject was in June of this year, in the Journal Cell Stem Cell. It found that fasting 2-4 days at a time can actually cause a reduction in white blood cells. This means that fasting kills off old and damaged immune cells, and when the body rebounds it uses stem cells to create brand new, completely healthy cells. (1)
“Fasting is the greatest remedy, the physician within.”- Philippus Paracelsus, one of the three fathers of Western medicine
The study was actually conducted using human clinical trials on patients who were receiving chemotherapy, where fasting was effective in fighting cancer.

“During each cycle of fasting, this depletion of white blood cells induces changes that trigger stem cell-based regeneration of new immune system cells. Prolonged fasting also lowered levels of IGF-1, a growth-factor hormone that has been linked to aging, tumor progression and cancer risk.” (1)
“Chemotherapy causes significant collateral damage to the immune system. The results of this study suggest that fasting may mitigate some of the harmful effects of chemotherapy.”(1) – Co-Author Tanya Dorff
“We could not predict that prolonged fasting would have such a remarkable effect in promoting stem cell-based regeneration of the heatopoietic system. When you starve, the system tries to save energy, and one of the things it can do to save energy is to recycle a lot of the immune cells that are not needed, especially those that may be damaged. What we started noticing in both our human work and animal work is that the white blood cell count goes down with prolonged fasting. Then when you re-feed, the blood cells come back. ”(1) – Valter Longo, corresponding author

A scientific review of multiple scientific studies regarding fasting was published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2007. It examined a multitude of human and animal studies, and determined that fasting is an effective way to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer. It also showed significant potential in treating diabetes. (2)

The study concluded that fasting:
“May effectively modulate metabolic and functional risk factors, thereby preventing or delaying the future occurrence of common chronic diseases.” (2)
Scientists at the National Institute on Aging, led by Mark Mattson, a professor at the school of medicine has published several papers that discuss how fasting twice a week could significantly lower the the risk of developing both Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. (3)

He explains how fasting stimulates two messaging chemicals that operate at the cellular level and are key to the growth of brain cells in both animals and humans. The shock of fasting leads the brain to create new brain cells, neurons are forced to grow and the brain becomes more resistant to protein plaques that are seen in cases of Alzheimer’s, or the damage created by Parkinson’s.
“Dietary changes have long been known to have an effect on the brain. Children who suffer from epileptic seizures have fewer of them when placed on caloric restriction or fasts. It is believed that fasting helps kick-start protective measures that help counteract the overexcited signals that epileptic brains often exhibit. (Some children with epilepsy have also benefited from a specific high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet) Normal brains, when overfed, can experience another kind of uncontrolled excitation, impairing the brain’s function, Mattson and another researcher reported in January in the journal Nature Reviews Neuroscience.” (3)
Scientists are continuing to uncover evidence that short term fasting could achieve a number of health benefits. Despite this evidence, current medical opinion remains unchanged, because there are many human studies that indicate a diet of at least 2000 calories a day is the best option.

Fasting As A Spiritual Practice

As mentioned earlier, fasting has been practiced for thousands of years by various cultures all over the world. Seen as not only beneficial to health, but beneficial to the soul, as it is often done to intensify our connection to source, God, the creator or whatever you want to call it. This is why it’s described in various religions, texts, ancient civilizations and native american traditions. I won’t go into detail here, as that is a completely separate topic. It’s not hard to find more information on it if you do some research yourself.
“Fasting will bring spiritual rebirth to those of you who cleanse and purify your bodies. The light of the world will illuminate within you when you fast and purify yourself. What the eyes are for the outer world, fasts are for the inner.” – Mahatma Gandhi

My experience with fasting started approximately 10 years ago. I started practicing it to lose weight at first, more concerned with my appearance than anything else, it worked tremendously. But then something happened, it started to feel really good, I felt really light and more connected to my soul. I received bursts of energy quite often.

Eating was such a censorial experience, a censorial pleasure, a normal part of my human experience. Completely depriving myself of this pleasure allowed me to connect with myself on a spiritual level even more, and after I did the scientific research, I realized that it was quite normal to feel completely rejuvenated, energized and healthy. The fact that it was an ancient spiritual practice drew me into it even more, given the fact that science (more so quantum physics) is now catching on to concepts that were already known thousands of years ago. I fast quite often, and it is really (for me) an invigorating process that assists me in maintaining a completely peaceful state, which I feel is my most natural state. For me, it just feels right and since I have been incorporating it into my life for 10 years now, my body is quite used to it.

Other Factors To Consider

***When you are coming out of a fast, it’s important to do your research on how to best break it. It’s not something you want to rush into, you don’t want to stuff yourself with food after. You want to ease your body back into the transition of consuming food with fruits and vegetables.

If you are going to do a water fast, it’s best to make sure your water is completely purified.

Scientists have discovered that the root of this plant works “better” than chemotherapy because it “kills” completely the cells infected with cancer. In addition it acts as a diuretic, which stimulates the secretion of bile, cleanses the liver, helps with allergies and reduces cholesterol.

It contains many important vitamins and minerals like vitamin B6, thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin C, iron, calcium, potassium, folic acid and magnesium.

It contains up to 535% of the required dose of vitamin C and 110% of the recommended daily dose of vitamin A. All these are facts known for years.

University of Windsor Canada made an initial study of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the results gave new hope to cancer patients. It was found that the root of the dandelion effectively “kill” cells infected with cancer without harmful effects on other cells in the body, reported by “Natural News”.

John Di Carlo, 72 year-old man, who was personally convinced of the healing properties of dandelion, has been subjected to intense and “aggressive” chemotherapy to fight for his health. The healing process was three years long right before doctors send him home to spend his last days with his loved ones.

Due to the fact that there was no effect of chemotherapy and doctors did not offer alternatives to treat cancer, John began to drink tea from the root of the dandelion as a last effort to save him from cancer. Just four months, according to the site “Natural News”, this man survived remission of the disease.

Advocated by several schools of native medicine, including Ayurveda, golden milk is one of the bests ways to consume turmeric on a daily basis, along with the antioxidant power of ginger and black pepper.

In a comprehensive summary of 700 studies published by ethnobotanist James A. Duke, Phd., in the October, 2007 issue of Alternative & Complementary Therapies, Duke found extensive evidence that turmeric can reduce inflammation and support brain and joint health.

He showed that turmeric appears to outperform many pharmaceuticals in its effects against several chronic, debilitating diseases, and does so with virtually no adverse side effects.

Drinkers of Golden Milk can also reap the benefits of ginger, a natural anti-inflammatory that can help relieve symptoms of arthritis, bursitis and other musculoskeletal ailments.

Additionally, Golden Milk is flavored by black pepper, whose sharp taste comes from the alkaloid piperine, which enhances the absorption and the anti-inflammatory effects of turmeric.

The Benefits of Anti-Inflammatory Health Promoting Golden Milk

Recipe

1. Take an inch-long stick of turmeric.
Remember that turmeric powder is never as effective as crushed turmeric sticks, because the chances of contamination in the powder are high, plus its efficacy is also bound to reduce during the heat-generating grinding process.

So, take a stick of turmeric and crush it coarsely using a mortar and pestle.

2. Crush a few peppercorns too.
The white variety is better.

3. Mix a cup of water with a cup of coconut milk, add the crushed turmeric, pepper and a 1-inch (by 1/2 inch diameter) piece of ginger and bring to a boil.

4. Simmer for 20 minutes. By this time, the milk will reduce to a cup. This is the reason why you begin with a mixture of milk and water; else you will end up with a very thick drink that won't be as soothing.

5. Remove from the stove, filter, add a spoonful of honey and enjoy the drink warm.

6. If you are taking this to relieve a sore throat, add 1/2 teaspoon of ghee to the hot turmeric milk before drinking it. The ghee will melt and coat your throat, relieving you of cough as well.

Note: The most important part is to sit and relax with this cuppa for a few minutes, relishing its soothing flavour and rustic aroma! This will enhance the feel-good factor.

Never, Ever Stop A Sneeze

Sneezing can reach speeds of up to 160 km / h and we should not retain this process because then the organism cleanses the body of all the impurities and by retaining this process we are bringing our body in danger.

While we sneeze, the air flies through our nostrils at speeds up to 160 kilometers per hour, therefore if you retain this process, or simply said, if you stop the sneezing, all this pressure will move to another part of the body, that could easily get hurt. Stopping or constraint the sneezing, will make, all the pressure, move to your ears, and this pressure can easily cause damage to your ears, for example, cracking your eardrums.

It can also cause hearing loss and dizziness, which will not stop for a while. The blood capillaries in your eyes can also get hurt. In other words due to this kind of pressure they can burst. This pressure can also damage the diaphragm. By stopping a stronger gust of sneezes you are risking a potential neck injuries, as well as fresh wounds in people who had recently operated their sinuses.

In the worst case, retaining of this process can lead to rupture of the veins in the brain and it can even lead to a stroke, which can be fatal.

So if you come to sneeze in public, do not be shy, because the price that you can pay is not worth it. Instead of restraint it, put a handkerchief to your nose and sneeze”like a man”. If you can’t take out your handkerchief, you can cover your nose and mouth with your forearm or your left palm, and that way you will be able to handle it later if necessary.

7 Reasons Why Women Should Drink Beer

$
0
0

Drinking moderately is good for the health. Moreover, recent studies have shown that beer, especially black beer, has many benefits to the health and beauty of women. Here’s why it’s not a bad idea to drink a glass of beer after a long day.

1.It strengthens the bones

Women who drink two beers a day have stronger bones than those who don’t enjoy this spirit drink. This is a result of a study of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine from the US state of Oregon, which was published in the Natural Medicine Journal. The same study showed that beer contains significant amounts of degradable silicon, which is one of the important elements in human bones. Moderate drinking of beer is particularly recommended to menopausal women which is associated with thinning of bone density.

2.Prevents colds and has anti-inflammatory properties

Beer is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, calcium and selenium that protect the whole body from seasonal diseases. In addition, it contains many antioxidants that stimulate the immune system. “Beer is food, which is equal to other healthy foods with a bitter taste, such as olive oil, spinach, Swiss chard or arugula. And hops, as a basic ingredient of beer, contains humulone molecules – a powerful anti-inflammatory compounds. Humulone molecules inhibit the enzymes responsible for initiating the inflammatory process.”

3.It makes the skin more beautiful

Beer is an excellent source of B complex vitamins which are responsible for beautiful and taut skin; it also helps to maintain muscle tone and provides energy throughout the body. “Dark beer has more nutrients than light beer, and offers a range of health benefits: it reduces bad cholesterol, stimulates digestion, makes the skin beautiful and strengthens the immune system of the body.” Since we can’t absorb sufficient quantities of vitamins B from food, they should be compensated in other ways. There’s even an ‘urban’ legend that mosquitoes avoid people who have a balanced amount of B complex in the body.

4.Reduce Bloating

Studies have shown that dark beer has more nutrients than light beer. 350 milliliters of dark beer has, for example, more than one gram of fiber (the same quantity of light beer has less than 1 gram of dietary fiber), which ensures the health of the gastrointestinal system, reduces flatulence and constipation.

5.Kills spring fatigue

Do you feel tired and irritable? You are probably suffering from the effects of spring fatigue, which, among other things, is connected to a lack of iron in the blood. It’s difficult to absorb from food, so it should be taken in other ways. Black beer is an excellent source of that particular mineral. The effect of alcohol, on the other hand, will effectively solve the problems with insomnia. “Beer is a rich source of vitamin B, especially B 12, which is not found in plants, and is responsible for the formation of red blood cells. In the past, children in Ireland were given two teaspoons of Guinness as a remedy.”

6.Protects the heart

Moderate beer drinking increases the amount of good cholesterol, reduces the level of bad cholesterol, and thins the blood, thus reducing the risk of a heart attack. An Italian study has shown that women who drink one beer a day had 42 % less chance of developing cardiovascular disease than those who don’t drink alcohol. Above all, moderate drinking of alcohol can reduce the possibility of getting type 2 diabetes.

7.Hydrates after exercise

Forget energy drinks, and drink a glass of beer after exercising. Spanish researchers from the University of Granada have proven that beer has a better moisturizing effect on the body than plain water when the body reaches higher temperatures, as is the case with serious amateurs and professional athletes.

Is Flossing Your Teeth Really Important?

Is Flossing Your Teeth Really Important?

We’ve all heard that flossing is an important part of oral health. Most likely, your dentist or dental hygienist mentions this to you every time you have a dental appointment. Yet many of us would rather clean the bathroom floor than floss our teeth!

We’ve often been asked if flossing is really that important, and what will happen if we don’t floss our teeth? Let’s take a look …

One of our dental hygienists has an flossing analogy that’s a powerful visual reminder: “You wouldn’t wash only one side of a dirty dish, and then put it back in the cupboard to use again tomorrow, would you? When you brush your teeth, you’re only washing half of the surfaces of your teeth, front and back. You’re neglecting the two sides your toothbrush doesn’t touch. This leaves the sides of your teeth and the area near the gum line dirty, like only washing one side of a dish.”

Flossing your teeth is the way to get into these “nooks and crannies,” which need to be kept clean just as much as the rest of your teeth for good oral health. If you don’t floss, the areas between your teeth and underneath your gums begin to breed bacteria, and eventually plaque — both of which love to hide and cause problems.

What are the Benefits of Flossing Your Teeth?

The act of flossing breaks up plaque bacterial biofilm on your teeth. If this bacteria-ridden biofilm is allowed to remain on your teeth, it colonizes and actually changes the chemistry of your mouth, making it possible for “pathogens” to survive. This puts you at risk for developing an infection, and possibly disease of the structures in your mouth that support your teeth. Not flossing leaves you vulnerable to gum infection (gingivitis), which can lead to gum disease (periodontitis) and eventually cause tooth loss.

In addition to a healthier mouth, there’s another benefit to flossing your teeth: fresher breath!

I don’t see anything or feel anything different when I don’t floss. So why do it?

The initial signs of gum infection can be easy to miss, because there’s no pain or visual signs of gum or tooth distress. If you avoid flossing for a few days, you may notice your gums are a bit tender, red and they may bleed when you brush or eventually floss your teeth. Sadly, some people consider this to be normal. But healthy gums aren’t supposed to bleed!

As the infection in your mouth develops and disease begins to form there may be pus present in some areas of the mouth, but there still may not be any throbbing pain or obvious signs of problems until the disease is very advanced. Typically, you won’t notice your teeth are in danger until gum disease is very advanced. When gum disease reaches this stage, teeth may be painful and loose, and restoring teeth to health becomes unlikely. In fact, you may be at risk of tooth loss.

The good news is flossing regularly makes sure gum disease doesn’t have a fighting chance! It’s optimal to floss twice a day, but once will keep biofilm at bay.

How to floss your teeth:
  • Use 18 inches of floss. Wrap most of it around the middle finger of one hand, the rest around your other middle finger
  • Grasp the string tightly between your thumb and forefinger, and use a rubbing motion to guide it between teeth. Curve the floss to “give your tooth a little hug” with the floss, cleaning around the curved sides of your teeth
  • When the floss reaches the gum line, form a C to follow the shape of the tooth. This is the “hug” part of flossing
  • Hold the strand firmly against the tooth, and move it gently up and down
  • Repeat with the tooth on the other side of that space, and then repeat the entire process with the rest of your teeth.
  • Don’t forget to floss behind your back teeth, too — this is by far the place where most gum disease and decay manifests
  • Use fresh sections of floss as you go

Tools to help make flossing your teeth easier:

If you have tight spacing between teeth, use a dental floss like Glide, which is made specifically for “tight teeth”

Plastic, Y-shaped disposable flossers that allow for extra reach

Small, round brushes and/or pointed rubber tips

Wooden or plastic pics (called interdental cleaners)

The Sonicare Airfloss is a wonderful, battery-powered tool that uses a small microbead of water, and a forceful puff of air, to act as “floss.” While the Sonicare Airfloss does not work as effectively as a good, old-fashioned strand of dental floss, it’s a great alternative for people who struggle with flossing.

When it comes to children, they’ll usually need help flossing until they’re about 11 years old. Kids should begin to floss as soon as they have two teeth that touch. Even if they’re baby teeth, flossing is still important to a child’s oral health!

New Research: Three Hours Of Sitting Will Damage Your Blood Vessels

$

Increasing research has highlighted the significant risk of excessive sitting for adults, but “grown-ups” are not the only ones at risk. Children spend more than 60 percent of their waking day sedentary,1 and by some estimates children sit an average of 8.5 hours a day.2

Further, activity levels are thought to decline steeply after age 8, especially among girls.3 Researchers decided to study a small group of girls (aged 7 to 10 years) to determine if sitting is as detrimental to their health as it appears to be to adults.

In adults, sitting for hours leads to constricted arteries in your legs, which impedes blood flow, raises blood pressure, and contributes to the development of heart disease over time.4 Does the same hold true among children?

At the start of the study, all of the girls had healthy arterial function. However, after sitting for three hours, playing on tablets or watching movies, there was a “profound” reduction in vascular function.5

There were some encouraging findings. The girls’ artery function had returned to normal a few days later when they returned to the lab. And when the sitting time was interrupted by a gentle 10-minute cycling session, no decline in vascular function was recorded.

On average, a US adult spends nine to 10 hours each day sitting,9 which is so much inactivity that even a 30- or 60-minute workout can’t counteract its effects.

While it might seem natural to sit this long, since you’ve probably grown used to it (physically and mentally), it’s actually quite contrary to nature.

Studies looking at life in agriculture environments show that people in agrarian villages sit for about three hours a day. Your body is made to move around and be active the majority of the day, and significant negative changes occur when you spend the majority of the day sedentary instead.

Pancreas: Your body’s ability to respond to insulin responds after just one day of excess sitting, which leads your pancreas to produce increased amounts. This may lead to diabetes.

Research published in Diabetologia found that those who sat for the longest periods of time were twice as likely to have diabetes or heart disease, compared to those who sat the least.

Another reason for this increased cancer risk is thought to be linked to weight gain and associated biochemical changes, such as alterations in hormones, metabolic dysfunction, leptin dysfunction, and inflammation — all of which promote cancer.

The disks in your back are meant to expand and contract as you move, which allows them to absorb blood and nutrients. When you sit, the disks are compressed and can lose flexibility over time. Sitting excessively also increase your risk of herniated disks.

Frequent fidgeting, restlessness, or squirming are often used to describe symptoms of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children. But many would argue that such behaviors are natural when children are forced to “sit still” for unnaturally long periods of time – like the majority of a school day.

To combat this problem, some forward-thinking schools are giving children more opportunity to move around throughout the day, rather than expecting them to sit for hours in desks. For instance, at Vallecito Elementary School in San Rafael, California, at least four classes have introduced chair-less standing desks.17

After an initial adjustment period, the standing desks have been met with rave reviews. The students report the desks are “fun” and help them feel “more focused.” Teachers say the desks make children more attentive and parents say their kids are sleeping better at night… all while avoiding the risks of excessive sitting time; a win-win situation all around! Similarly, Naperville Central High School in Illinois implemented a special program where students could take part in a dynamic gym class at the beginning of the day and had access to exercise bikes and balls throughout the day in their classrooms.

Those who participated nearly doubled their reading scores and math scores increased 20-fold. The results speak for themselves… and they extend to adults, too. If you work in an office environment, converting your workstation to a standing desk is one of the best ways to cut back on your sitting time.

A study published in the journal Preventive Medicine analyzed 23 active desk studies and found they reduced sedentary time and improved mood. Additional benefits from from standing desks included:

As you cut back on sitting, the point is not to simply stand still instead. Fortunately, as you stand up, you’ll likely naturally move as well. According to Dr. James Levine, author of the book Get Up!: Why Your Chair Is Killing You and What You Can Do About It:

Even movements such as fidgeting appear beneficial. Among women who reported sitting for seven hours or more a day and hardly fidgeting, the risk of all-cause mortality increased by 30 percent. Women who reported fidgeting often fared far better – after sitting for five to six hours a day, their risk of mortality decreased. Further, there was no increased mortality risk from longer sitting time in either the “middle” or “high” fidgeting groups.

Another example, people who made a point to get up and walk around for two minutes out of every hour increased their lifespan by 33 percent compared to those who did not.22 Those who stood up for two minutes an hour did not reap the benefits that those who walked for two minutes did. Setting a goal of 7,000 to 10,000 steps a day (which is just over three to five miles, or 6 to 9 kilometers) can go a long way toward getting more movement and less sitting into your life. This should be over and above any exercise regimen you may have.

I personally am doing about 14,000 to 15,000 steps a day, which I can typically accomplish with a 90-minute walk. Tracking your steps can also show you how simple and seemingly minor changes to the way you move around at work can add up. I recommend using a pedometer, or better yet, one of the newer wearable fitness trackers to keep track of your daily steps. Other simple ways to increase your physical movement and avoid sitting down at work and elsewhere include:

It’s just as important for children and adolescents to remain active throughout the day as it is for adults. Younger kids tend to naturally want to be active, so be sure to encourage this movement and activity as much as possible. Unfortunately, as kids get older they may tend to become increasingly sedentary, especially if they have regular access to computers, TV, tablets, and video games.

The researchers of the featured study were actually surprised at how easy it was to get the young girls to stay seated for three hours; they had thought it was going to be a challenge to keep them still, but the girls were happy to oblige.

As a parent, you’ll want to set limits on your child’s “screen time” and encourage not only organized sports and other activities (like dance classes) but also regular active play and taking part in active chores around the house – walking the dog, taking out the trash, raking leaves, etc. If you have a school-aged child, you may want to speak with your child’s educators about ways to incorporate more movement into their hours spent at school. Outdoor playtime, standing desks, gym classes, and providing access to exercise bikes and exercise balls are just several examples. It’s also imperative that you act as a role model by staying active yourself. If your kids see you moving around often and sitting less, they will naturally follow suit

Each individual has a unique life and a very distinct energy about them. This makes mental and emotional healing different from person to person. With that in mind, EFT, or emotional freedom tapping, is something that is effective for most, if not all people.

EFT is rooted in our physiological energy flow. It’s an ancient Chinese method of healing that focuses on the body’s energy grid. Essentially, the tapping opens up your life force flow, which helps heal negative conditioning and traumatic energy picked up over the course of your life.

When you tap certain acupressure points, the nodal energy points specifically, you can release negative energy that blocks your body from its natural energy flow.

These are a couple great videos for getting started.

Reduce Teeth Staining From Tea by Adding Milk

Reduce Teeth Staining from Tea by Adding Milk

Just like adding milk to coffee to reduce tooth staining, adding milk to tea also helps keep your teeth whiter. Most people in the United States don’t drink their tea with milk, but it is very common in many places throughout the world. In fact, I found this really cool mug from a British company with a convenient color matching guide inside the rim to help you add just the right amount of milk to your tea.

How Does Milk in Tea Decrease Tooth Staining?

Theaflavins and thearubigins, the dark tooth staining molecules that love to stick to teeth, also have a very high affinity for milk proteins called caseins that are found in animal milks. Caseins surround the staining molecules and keep them from sticking to your teeth. This binding between milk proteins and the aflavins/thearubigins is enhanced by milk fats, so the higher the fat content in the milk you add the greater the stain reduction.

Unfortunately, this effect on staining doesn’t apply to soy, rice, almond, or any other type of non-animal milk (using non-animal milks may actually cause more staining), but it will work a bit with creamers because they contain small amounts of caseins. The bottom line is choose whatever tastes good to you, but know that cow milk or any other animal milk with a high fat content will give the greatest reduction in staining. Sorry skim milk fans.

Will Milk Reduce the Health Benefits of Tea?

Many people think that because milk binds theaflavins and other polyphenols, which have many health benefits, adding milk to your tea will mean that your cup of tea will be less healthy. However, studies conducted that actually looked at absorption and plasma concentrations of the healthy compounds in tea saw no negative effects from milk. Once the tea makes its way down into your digestive tract, your body does a great job of separating the milk from the healthy tea compounds so that you will absorb them.

If you are able to drink milk from animals and like the taste of it in your tea, this is a pretty neat trick for keeping your teeth white.

Here Is What Happens If You Wake Up at 5:30 am Every Day

“The miracle morning”, a bestseller by Hal Elrod, suggests that waking up at 5:30 every morning is the path for becoming the person we want to be. This is some kind of routine we need to follow in order to achieve everything what we want in life. Well, we decided to put this book on a test and for a week follow the instructions which were given. Elizabeth, our volunteer, is trying it out and here is her diary for one regular day according to the book.

Here Is What Happens If You Wake Up at 5:30 am Every Day

Meditation to de-stress:

The day always started with meditation session. This is not the kind of relaxing meditation but more to wake up, feel alive and prepare for the following day. You sit on the sofa of chair with your shoulders straight and keep your eyes wide open. According to the book this meditation is the secret of successful day because it cuts the stress which destroys you.

Take stock of its objectives:

After the session, the book advises you to write down all your thoughts. At 5:45, I take my notebook and sit down to write everything that comes to my mind. First, I write the things I am grateful for, the things I want and need in my life, the way I want to improve my personality and lifestyle and so on. The book advises you to write also what is worrying you, what is the person you want to become, how much money you want to earn, where you want to be in the next 5 years, write down about your loved ones and so on. Basically empty your mind from everything which doesn’t let you sleep at night or takes your energy during the day.

Give yourself time for yourself:

At 6 o’clock according to the book you need to do exercises. I combined some cardio and muscle exercises because I don’t like jogging. This is very important because it stimulates the biological clock and all the processes in your body so your organism can work properly during the day. Then at 7:30 I read. The book advises to focus on self-development and read everything that will make you better person or help you in your career. I read newspapers and novels because I am interested in that. What surprised me was that I was very concentrated at this period of the day and could remember more information then my usual mornings.

Conclusion: a good morning but not miraculous:

At 8 am you are ready for the day. Now is time for breakfast and according to the book you are supposed to eat healthy breakfast which will give you energy for all of your activities during the day. I combined pancakes and fruit with a cup of coffee.

Put a Drop Of Vinegar And Alcohol In Your Ear And Say Goodbye to Earwax

$

The wax in our ears is a completely natural process that prevents bacteria, dirt and dust from entering our ears.

Unfortunately, many people see earwax as unnecessary grease and dirt, and they remove it on a daily basis. The worst thing is that they usually do it by using a cotton swab, which only pushes the bacteria deeper into the interior of the ear.

What is less known is that the excess ear wax falls out on its own, but when that does not happen for whatever reason, it can cause some unpleasant symptoms.

It can create a blockage that blocks the further release of wax, while causing earache, sinus problems, headaches, impaired hearing, and sometimes dizziness.

Fortunately, there’s a doctor that has a solution!

Doctor David Hill advises us to mix an equal amount of vinegar and alcohol (a very small amount) and put a drop of the mixture into the ear.

We should do this while lying down, leave the mixture in the ear for 60 seconds, and then stand up and allow it to simply leak out.

This mixture will make a miracle – unblock the wax, stimulate its removal, and it will help us get rid of any unpleasant symptoms.

Your Bad Breath Could Be A Sign of 5 Serious Illnesses

Your Bad Breath Could Be A Sign of 5 Serious Illnesses

For many years, doctors have noticed how specific breath odors can be linked to certain diseases.
The idea of using breath tests as medical diagnosis isn’t new; Hippocrates is the first known philosopher to realize breath aroma can relate with diseases in 400 B.C.

In a recent report by The Wall Street Journal, doctors outline the technology advancements of detecting chemical compound in our breath.

“Anything you can have a blood test for, there is potentially a breath test for, as long as there is a volatile component,” says Raed A. Dweik of the pulmonary vascular program at Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner Research Institute.

1. Diabetes

A fruity breath odor known as ketoacidosis is a natural way to indicate serious diabetic problems in someone.

This breath odor is the result of a build-up of ketones in the body, which is the product of using fat as a source of energy instead of sugar.

Diabetics suffer from little to no insulin to be able to break down sugars in the body, which leads the body to turn to fat. Detecting this off-putting breath odor could help detect serious issues related to diabetes in a person.

2. Lung Cancer

It’s been proven that some animals are able to sniff out specific diseases, such as diabetes. Scientists are now trying to develop an electronic nose for this very purpose.

The idea behind the technology would be to separate different profiles of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), as stated in a 2013 press release.

Researches are not yet able to accurately identify which VOCs link to which diseases, but there are significant studies that suggest this electronic nose can detect lung cancer and rule out any other lung condition.

Lead author of the press release states, “We have shown that it is possible to use breath tests to correctly identify lung cancer with a high sensitivity rate. The results of our study take us one step further to understand this important new technology.”

3. Kidney Failure

Our kidneys remove waste from our blood, so if they fail our body can no longer rid the toxins on their own. This will result in a build-up of waste which is then released through our respiratory system.

It’s been widely researched and known that those who suffer from chronic kidney failure also suffer from urine-like, fishy, ammonia odor breath.

4. Obesity

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles was set on finding if someone’s breath could be in indicator of developing obesity.

They studied 792 participants and concluded that a high concentration of certain gases in our breath, such as methane, prove higher BMI and fat percentages in those than participants with a normal mix of gases.

5. Heart Failure

A 2012 study points to a non-invasive alternative to heart failure diagnosis tests.

They began by using heart patients as controls for a test to detect kidney failure in patient’s breath. What they found was that the control subjects had very unique breath prints that may be used to detect heart failure.

Bacon & Sausages No More! World Health Organisation: As Big A CANCER THREAT As Cigarettes

Bacon is officially bad for your health/ Dyanne Gonzalaes via Creative Comms

The World Health Organisation is planning to declare that bacon, sausages and other processed meats cause cancer.

The announcement is expected to list the fry-up favourites in the same category as arsenic, asbestos and cigarettes.

Red meat will also be declared “probably carcinogenic to humans”, and will be ranked as only slightly less dangerous than preserved products, according to a Daily Mail source.

Processed meat, which include pastrami, salami, hot dogs and some types of sausages is made by smoking, curing, salting or adding preservatives.

The World Cancer Research Fund said: “There is strong evidence that eating a lot of these foods [red and processed meat] increases your risk of bowel cancer.”

Bowel cancer is the second most common cancer in Europe and the third most common worldwide, according to Cancer Research UK.

It is also the second most common cause of cancer deaths in the UK, accounting for ten per cent of all deaths from cancer.

The NHS website says that evidence shows there is “probably a link between eating red and processed meat and the risk of bowel cancer”.

“People who eat a lot of these meats are at higher risk of bowel cancer than those who eat small amounts,” it adds.

According to the Mail, the decision by the WHO was made following a meeting and review of available evidence by scientists from ten nations including the UK.

But the decision, expected to be announced on Monday, could have a serious financial impact on farmers and the food industry ( via uk.news.yahoo.com ).

Betsy Booren, of the North American Meat Institute, said recently: “If they determine that red and processed meat causes cancer – and I think they will – that moniker will stick. It could take decades and billions of dollars to change that.”
