Victoire Macon Dauxerre is an 18-year-old high school student from France. Victoire has been very busy studying for the upcoming final exams. One day, she decided to give herself a break and go shopping with her mom in order to relax. However, she didn’t know that this day would be a turning point in her life and that it would turn her life into a nightmare.

This 18-Year-Old Girl Lived on 3 Apples a Day for 8 Months! 5 Years Later This is What she Looks Like

She was spotted by a modeling agency in one of the malls. Even though her dream was to study at Sciences Pro, an eminent University in Paris, she somehow let herself involve in the world of glitter, believing that that it was something that every teenager girl wants! However, very soon after joining the Elite modeling agency, her life dramatically changed.

Victoire found herself trapped in a world where thin bodies dominate. As she explains, “nobody told me I had to lose weight. But I was told: in September, you’ll be doing the Fashion Weeks, the clothes are size 32-34, and you’ll have to fit in them.”

Then, he started to basically starve herself, which resulted in losing 22 pounds in 2 months. Her diet was based on three apples a day combined with sparkling water, allowing her to feel full. A piece of chicken of fish was the only “real” food she consumed, and this was allowed only once weekly.

This strategy seemed very successful and Victorie, who is 5’10”, weighed only 103 pounds. She was booked for back-to-back haute couture shows in Milan, New York, and Paris and worked for prestigious brands, such as Miu Miu and Alexander McQueen. Moreover, she became one of the top 20 demanded models!

However, this glitter was hiding a painful truth. Victorie was suffering from anorexia, she started losing her hair, her pulse was weak, and she had osteoporosis and stopped getting her period. On the top of that, the used to faint very often between several fashion shows.

The worst part of this situation was that her pictures have been manipulated. According to Victorie, “They added weight to my thighs and cheeks. The girls working there today will probably say I’m lying. They can’t say anything if they want to continue.” She also added that the girls used to snack in front of journalist in order to avoid critics, but they would vomit when the cameras were off.

Sadly, Victorie felt she had lost herself at the very start of her adulthood. She felt depressed, lonely, and distressed. Becoming bulimic, she could see only one way to get out of this situation. Therefore, she attempted suicide only 8 months of modeling. As she explains, “Nobody understood. Everybody was telling me, ‘You have a dream life,’ but I’d never been so miserable.”

After this unpleasant situation, Victorie decided to end her modeling career. Everything about the life of this young woman, now 23, is described in her lately published book, entitled “Never Skinny Enough. Diary of a Top Model.” She talks about the constant pressure to become thin as well as about the designers who seem to dehumanize women and treat them like vulgar coat hangers. “Karl Lagerfeld says, ‘a Chanel suit doesn’t fit a woman with breasts.’ But women have breasts by definition. Why doesn’t he just make a suit that fits women?!?”

This story was the reason why the French court issued a new law. This law forbids models who are too skinny to work. Victoire tells the other girls that if someone asks them to lose weight they should run immediately! Luckily, this girl managed to survive this “jungle” and recover from the hell she was put into. Now, she wears a US size 6 and is planning to appear on the stage again, but this time in theater.

This brave girl is one of the few models who have the courage to speak up and tell the world what happens behind the scenes in the fashion world. If you feel touched by her story and want to raise awareness about the potential dangers of eating disorders, such as bulimia, spread the word and share this article!
